Millie Bobby Brown Should Be The Face Of The Next Generation

It's either her or Matty B.... you choose.

Millie Bobby Brown Should Be The Face Of The Next Generation

I'm just gonna be brutally honest. I am scared of the next generation of children. They all dress like adults, have iPhones years before I even had a flip phone and are sucked into the world of social media at an indescribable age. These kids are following in the footsteps of my generation and from what I can see it is not going to turn out well. What can we do to stop these kids from becoming little social demons? Who is going to stop the MattyB's and the girls who wear more makeup than clothes? Who can we turn to?

The answer is Millie Bobby Brown.

For those of you who don't know who Millie is, she plays Eleven in the new Netflix mini-series Stranger Things. Her character, who is a young girl with powers, doesn't have many lines throughout the first season and yet finds a way to steal the show. She has a huge fandom behind her and Stranger Things is all the rage right now. Millions of people have watched this show and there is much anticipation for the next season.

So why Millie?

For one thing, she doesn't care what you think. She cut her hair for the role of Eleven to the shortest pixie cut you can basically have. While everyone around her was worried that being a young kid with a shaved head would be an embarrassment, she openly embraces the look. She believes that inner beauty is more important than "being bald" and without getting into acting, she would have never found the confidence to be on screen and cutting her hair like she did in the first place.

She's also cooler than most of the teenagers currently starring in shows. She plays a girl with telekinesis (how cool would that be), she's British, she takes boxing and jujitsu, she's more stylish than most adults I know.... the list never ends. She doesn't let the fame get the best of her and I think that's the most important thing to remember. She wants everyone to accept themselves for who they are and I think that is the reason that I look up to her so much.

So for the kids who are looking up to Kylie Jenner and Matty B as inspiration, stop for a second and take a look at Millie Bobbie Brown. Don't feel the need to get lip injections or rap about your problems. Be like her and just be yourself. Don't be afraid to pull off a bold look or go after what you want, because, in the end, you will not only feel better about yourself but about the world around you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
