Millennials: As Defined By A Millennial

Who we actually are.

Millennials: As Defined By A Millennial

I don't think I can hear the word "millennial" without a negative connotation being placed right along with it. The sad part is none of it is even true. WE ARE NOT lazy, self-centered, entitled, or irresponsible. Sure, there are people in our generation who are, but what generation does not have those people? To say our entire generation is like that would make you as bad as we supposedly are. But enough about what other people say about us. What about what an actual millennial says about us.

We are OPEN-MINDED. I cannot imagine a more tolerant group of people in the world. What good could come from discriminating someone simply because they are not like us? Absolutely none. And for our generation to realize that is pretty fantastic, I think. At the end of the day, differences should not matter. In fact, they should be embraced. By our generation, they are.

We are TECH-SAVVY. Do you know how much technology has changed in the past 10 years alone? A lot. And it is only going to change more. You say that constantly being on our phones is a bad thing and god forbid if we have a Snapchat. I think all of those things make us pretty great. Technology allows us to connect with people from all over the world easily. Could you do that so easily "back when you were a kid"? I doubt it. We can find out what is going on around the world with just a few taps of a screen. That is pretty cool.

We are WORTHY. Whether you know it or not there is a difference between being worthy and being entitled. Has anyone looked at the cost of attending a four-year university recently? I have, and every single time I look at it I want to quit school and marry rich. Does that kind of thinking make a bad person? Maybe. Does it make me angry? Absolutely. I work my butt off in school and I think that makes me worthy of a reasonably priced education. One where I don't have to put myself in debt for the rest of my life. And every single thing I just said can be said for a large majority of the millennials in the world.

Most importantly, we are THE FUTURE. Whether you like it or not we are going to be the back bone of this world at some point. So how about instead of calling us names and pretending to know who we are, you support us as we make something of ourselves in this crazy world that you created and we live in.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
