Millennials are known for a lot, some good and some bad. I don't think anyone can deny are strange power to create and maintain new catchphrases. We flood the internet with new hashtags and permeate conversation with our very own vocabulary. It's okay if you're confused. I'm here to break down fourteen common slang terms for you. Have no fear, a Millennial is here.

Whatever you're wearing or doing is flawless. One of it's more popular usages is to describe eyebrows. "Girl, your eyebrows are on fleek today."
2. Bae
Technically, this is stands for Before Anyone Else. It's used to describe your significant other. Of course,it can be used more generally. "Pizza is bae."
3. Blessed
To use this word like a true millennial, you have to use it alone. Add a hashtag for good measure if you're concerned. "I found ten dollars in my jeans. Blessed."
4. Throwing Shade
The essence of throwing shade is to confront someone in a less obvious and more creative manner. "You know she was throwing shade when she referenced your ex like that."

Get wild. Party. "Let's turn up on Friday."
6. Turnt
Don't worry, it's only a shorted version of turn up. Consider Miley's "we can't stop" video a visual representation of turnt. "I'm going to get turnt tonight."

This is not referring to a female deer. It's a shorter, incorrect, way to say though. "Failed the last test, but I still passed the class doe."

The group. Your best friends all together.
9. Hella
Hella is an adjective which equates to very. "I'm going to take a hella nice nap."

Four letters would be way too much to type in a text so very becomes V. "You look v cute today."
11. The struggle(is real)
A vague term used to describe any issue that may arise. The phrase is quite versatile with the optional "is real".

12. Lit
If something is lit, it is the place to be. Lit is most commonly used to describe a party atmosphere.
13. Netflix and Chill
Thank you, Netflix, for gracing humanity with your presence and giving us the perfect excuse to snuggle up next to you bae.
14. Goals
I'm chasing goals and I'm not talking about soccer. You'll see this all over social media usually in reference to a relationship, makeup, etc.
Keep in mind this is only a handful of the terms being used. There are plenty more out there to discover for yourself. Remember, if you don't hate yourself at least a little bit after using these, you're doing it wrong.
