Miley Cyrus's Best Album

'Breakout:' the anthem album of our preteen years.

Miley Cyrus's Best Album

I have the biggest obsession with "Breakout" by Miley Cyrus. It's on my latest playlist on Spotify -- it's even saved on my Spotify -- and I jam to the CD version when I am tired of listening to music on Spotify. I will argue with you if you disagree about this being her best album. It is her best work. Yes, I love her other songs, but this is the cream of the crop. Trust me. I will fight you. I wanted to break down Miley's best album ever, and so here are my thoughts on her 12 best songs.

1. "Breakout"

All 13 year-old girls listening to this song wanted to be a little rebellious. Being "rebellious" at that age basically just meant trying to stay up until 1 a.m. during sleepovers. "Gonna break some hearts"? More like refuse to hold hands with our middle school boyfriends. "We're gonna dance 'til our moms fall apart" because we won't stop dancing and they went to bed an hour ago.

2. "7 Things"

While watching this music video, we cried over the serious boyfriends that we didn't have yet and wondered why our middle school boyfriends never bought us big teddy bears for Valentine's Day. Also, if you count up the list of things she sings without putting things together, not including sub-points, you end up with nine things. This numbered title is a lie.

3. "The Driveway"

Okay so none of us could drive, still. That doesn't matter. Break-ups, even with your middle school boyfriend whose hand you wouldn't hold, are hard. We can all be sad about endings.

4. "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"

Yes, girls just wanna have fun. (Meaning we wanted our parents to drop us off at the mall so we could walk around in freedom.)

5. "Full Circle"

You know those couples that break up multiple times but keep getting back together? This is probably their couple song.

6. "Fly On The Wall"

This song made you want to break the hearts of all middle school boys who were crushing on you. Who cares if you like me? I won't date you. A real empowering song for middle school girls.

7. "Bottom of the Ocean"

This song was made well because I really feel like I am underwater every time I listen to it. You get that vague sense of being covered with water. Good job.

8. "Wake Up America"

We can skip this one, right? Do we have to talk about this one?

9. "These Four Walls"

Wow, talk about depressing break-up songs. This girl is left alone with just her four walls. We would sing all of these songs while dancing around our rooms. This one made us rethink the safe comfort of our bedroom.

10. "Simple Song"

A really angsty song. We barely qualified as teens when this song came out and were nowhere close to being able to drive. Our parents should probably blame our premature teen angst on Miley Cyrus.

11. "Goodbye"

Once again, you were crying over the serious boyfriend that you didn't have (and didn't kiss). If only you could get him back. If only you had a serious boyfriend to get back.

12. "See You Again"

An ultimate jam by Miley Cyrus. Your friends probably replaced "she's just being Miley" with their own names. It was the best song ever, and you sang it in the hallways.

Thank you, Miley Cyrus, for this quality album. I will never forget it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
