The Odyssey

Midterms are a time of seeing all of your responsibilities laid out in front of you, ready to be completed, when you, exhausted from the first half of the semester, want nothing more than a soft blanket and a nap. Now, you might have the determination to be responsible and not wait until the night before it's due, but let's be honest, here's how midterms will actually go.

You and your friends resolve to spend your weekend in the library.

The first few hours pass, and you're still going strong. You can do this all night!

But after a while, your friend gets an invite to a party and gives you that look.

And you know study time is over.

Everyone packs up their things to get ready for a night out.

You know you need to study, but hey, mama didn't raise no shut-in.

You dress to the nines and have an amazing night out with your buddies...

...completely disregarding any thought about your exams tomorrow morning.

You wake up to your alarm the next morning, still in last night's clothes.

When did you get home? What time is it? What are you wearing? Why does your pinkie hurt? Is it broken? Your first exam is in 10 minutes?

You get to your hardest professor's test a little late.

He sees you and must feel pity, because he lets you into the class, no questions asked, earning some newfound respect for the dude.

That is, until he passes out the tests.

A million thoughts and emotions race through your mind while staring at the exam.

You turn in the exam, and consider different options once you flunk out of college.

The professor emails your results that night, and you hold you breath as you open it.

And you see your passing grade.

Congratulations! You've successfully made it halfway through the semester! Now, to do this all over again for finals in a few short months!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
