Full House was the family sitcom of the 80s and 90's that centered around sibling relationships and how to make your mark in your household.
Today, those sibling rivalries still exist, and no family member can relate to that more than the middle child. I am a proud middle child with an older brother and younger sister who I love more than I can say. However, they will never know what it feels like to be the sometimes "forgotten" sibling. This is meant to be a bit exaggerated, but please know that I know I am always loved in my special "middle kid" way.
1. You have to fight for attention.
Me trying to keep up with the trends that I'm too old and too young for at the same time.
2. You are always being compared to your siblings.
Yes, they are so fabulous with their maturity and cuteness. Middle children matter too!
3. You are usually the most responsible since you often have to learn to do things by yourself.
It's like you are the third parent. You know not to make the same mistakes your older sibling made while trying to show your youngest sibling how it's done. It can be a trying task...
4. Showing your parents the art project your older sibling already made three years ago and is still on the mantle.
Look how pretty it is! I used your favorite colors, Mom and Dad and my teacher said she loved it. A week later, your project is in the other room and the "favorite" project is back in its place of honor.
5.When your younger sibling walks down the stairs in your clothes.
Is this some form of flattering me or are you just trying to bug me?
6. Settling an argument between your siblings like.
You know that it's better to watch in satisfaction then get into their business. After all, you might get blamed for whatever it is.
7. Somehow they are always messing up your stuff.
How does that happen and why didn't you tell me?
8. Your least favorite comeback from your older sibling.
Yeah, I know it's been that way since birth. Any other comebacks that aren't so obvious.
9. The never ending Snapchat battle.
If I see more Snapchat of me half asleep on the couch, staring into space on your story, I will end our streak!
10. You embrace your spot in the family with pride.
I am my own person and I am special! Yay middle child life!
11. Until one of your siblings does something more impressive
Can't I just have the glory for a few more seconds!
Being a middle child has its perks too and I will always have the blessing of learning from my siblings and seeing that they don't always have it so easy either. No matter what kind of family you have or what your sibling order is, we all have our own special place where we shine, even if that means we get pushed around from time to time.
