If you haven’t entered the glamorous world of "Jane The Virgin" then you are in luck. I would give just about anything to wipe my mind and rewatch this show for so many reasons. The drama, comedy, romance, LGBTAQ+ inclusiveness and overall adorableness is only the scratch surface of this American telenovela making fun of novellas, Spanish soap operas.

In this article though, I’d like to talk about one of the main love interests (the only one that matters) Michael Cordero Jr. For those of you who haven’t seen "Jane The Virgin" yet, Jane has two love interests at first but it gets complicated, Rafael and Michael. Throughout the show, it makes sense as to why these two men make a good suitor for Jane, and the writing is so good that you change your mind along with her. It’s hard to choose between the two as they both have amazing qualities, Michael has been with Jane from the start but Rafael is rich and handsome and well, the father of Jane’s child, and yes she is still a virgin. Yeah, you’re going to need to watch the show to understand.

All of that aside, I have finally made my choice and am ready to discuss why Michael is the perfect man for Jane and the perfect man in general. I’ll have to warn you that this is completely biased and may contain some slight spoilers, enjoy with caution.

1) He's Familiar

At one point this was seen as a bad thing. Michael was the “safe option.” He was the guy that you wouldn’t take a risk with, you wouldn’t grow with, unlike Rafael who was new and exciting. This all changes when you realize that being familiar, knowing everything about the other person, being able to know what you need and when and how you need it is something everyone dreams of. He’s basically like a soulmate, Jane’s soulmate, and I love him. Or, er, Jane loves him.

2) He's Smart

There’s a lot of drama and cases to be solved in the Villanueva’s lives and Michael is the detective to solve literally all of them. He puts his heart and soul into his work and always solves the case. Michael, you are incredible.

3) He's Understanding

When Jane told him that she’s a virgin and waiting for marriage he gave the best and only response that you should ever receive, “We’ll just have to wait till we’re married then.” There are unfortunately a lot of guys that would be very bothered or too excited by that news and Michael, the beautiful, respectable man that he is gave a long-lasting response. He was definitely in it for the long hall.

4) Their First Kiss Was Magic

Imagine sharing a kiss after your birthday party was just broken up and you accidentally shot the extremely attractive cop’s gun in your house after thinking he’s a male stripper when it starts to snow, but it's not really snow, it's fluff from the hole you just shot in the ceiling. Romantic? Yeah, I think so.

5) He Never Gave Up

Even when things were looking bad for Michael: losing Jane to Rafael, his partner working for the drug lord they were trying to track down, his emotions getting the best of him, he never gave up on Jane. Even when he needed to push her away for her own safety, he came back and confessed his unending love. Even with all the odds against him and all the normal romance plots pointing to the other man, he stayed strong, he stayed himself.

6) He's Handsome

I mean look at him. He's adorable.

7) He's Flawed

So as perfect as he is, he has issues. He gets angry and lashes out, he’s jealous, and doesn’t trust easily. He’s a human being who had been thrown into an impossibly dramatic life, but out of all of the chaos, his love for Jane overcame any obstacle. Their love overcame everything.

8) His Wedding Speech

Alright so if the wedding wasn’t beautiful and meaningful enough, Michael had to go and make an extremely thoughtful and tear jerking move, he gave his wedding promise in Spanish. Now maybe it hit me harder because just thinking about marrying an English speaker who would go out of their way to remember our wedding promise in Spanish because they knew the importance it held in my family’s heritage, makes me die a little inside. Honestly, I cried for a solid seven minutes after he gave his speech. Now that is a man who makes an effort. No wonder Jane loves him so much.

9) The Whole Family Loves Him

He not only loves Jane, he loves her whole family. He saved Abuela (Jane’s grandma) from getting deported, he saved Rogelio (Jane’s dad) from being poisoned, he drove Rafael to the hospital to see Jane give birth, and that’s only the few things he's done. He loves Mateo (Jane’s son) like his own, he listens and understands their family dynamic, he is so full of love and devotion for the Villanueva’s that it’s hard not to picture him along with them. He belongs with this family, he belongs with Jane.
