10 Fall Break Travel Destinations For Miami University Students

Fall semester is just starting, which means that it's time to start planning any vacations you wish to go on during the semester! If you know that you won't have any plans for Thanksgiving break or are able to take one day off class to travel, then planning for a vacation during the semester may sound like the best idea right now. There are so many places that you can travel to during the fall, and going on vacation during the semester can help relieve some of the stress you may be going through from college.

So, here are the top 10 places that I recommend traveling to during fall semester if you're a Miami student!

1. Gatlinburg

If you love Miami Oxford's campus during the fall, you will love Gatlinburg! Gatlinburg is one of the most gorgeous places to go to during the fall since the mountains look so beautiful this season! Plus, there are tons of things to do in Gatlinburg when it's close to Halloween. There is a scary haunted house attraction, Ripley's Believe It Or Not, and there are tons of ghost walks!

2. Lake Isabel, Colorado

This is also a great place to go if you love seeing the trees and scenery of autumn. Just like Gatlinburg, Lake Isabel in Colorado has mountains that are breathtaking to look at during autumn and winter! If you love camping, there are lots of lakes and camping areas. There are also tons of areas where you can go fishing or canoeing! So if you love nature and really want to go camping somewhere, you should check out Lake Isabel in Colorado.

3. San Francisco

In California, San Francisco is a great city to visit during the fall semester! It's usually windy, but it's a great place to go to if you want to explore different cultures. It's also amazing to see the Golden Gate Bridge and to check out some of the shops in the city! The last time I visited San Francisco, I went to Chinatown, which has the best food and is filled with Chinese culture. San Francisco is definitely one of my favorite cities to visit when I'm on vacation!

4. Grand Canyon

This is one of the best places to travel to if you're looking to go on a fun road trip with a group of friends! The Grand Canyon is a beautiful place to visit, both during the day and at night. At night, there are tons of stars, and if you love stargazing, it's one of the best places to visit! The scenery is also breathtaking, so if you've always wanted to visit the Grand Canyon, you should consider going this upcoming semester.

5. Washington D.C.

If you want to go on a road trip somewhere not too far away, you should try going to Washington D.C. during fall semester. It's a good trip for any Miami student since there are tons of things to do and it's not too expensive. It's also easy to travel to. There are tons of museums in Washington D.C. that are really cool to check out, and it has really beautiful parks!

6. New York City

If you love big cities, you should check out New York City! There is so much to do, and it's one of the best places to travel! If you love theater, there are Broadway plays that you can go to, or if you love shopping, there are tons of shops to check out! New York City is a great place to visit during fall semester since it's less crowded with tourists than during the summer.

7. Orlando, Florida

The best part about going to Orlando, Florida during the fall semester is that it's not as crowded as it is during the summer! There are tons of great amusement parks and attractions in Orlando! You can go to Disney World or Universal Studios where it won't be nearly as crowded as it is during the summer unless you go near Halloween. Orlando is a great place for any Miami student who needs somewhere that will help them forget about the stress of the semester.

8. Tahquamenon Falls State Park in Michigan

Just like Colorado, Michigan has tons of parks and camping areas to go to during autumn! It's a great place for any Miami student who loves fall. There is also a waterfall that is one of the biggest in Michigan, and there is tons of land in Tahquamenon Falls State Park. According to Michigan.org, Tahquamenon Falls State Park has a waterfall that's 50 feet high and 200 feet wide, and there are 20,000 acres of land. It's beautiful to see during the fall, and it's a great place to visit if you enjoy the outdoors!

9. Miami Beach, Florida

If you're looking for a place to go to the beach, you should check out going to Miami Beach, Florida! When it's autumn, Miami, Florida isn't as crowded as it is during the summer, which makes it a perfect vacation spot for fall semester! There are so many things to do there, and it's a perfect place to go when you need a break from college.

10. New Orleans, Louisiana

The best place to go for anyone who loves Halloween is New Orleans! Around Halloween, the city is set up in colorful Halloween decorations along with music playing everywhere in the streets. There are also festivals for Halloween, voodoo music and live jazz bands.

So, if you find yourself looking for a place to go to escape the stress of your classes, you should check out these 10 places to go to during the fall semester! College can be stressful, and at Miami, sometimes a road trip is needed. There are so many things to do during the fall, and you should look into going somewhere during this upcoming semester so you can take the break you need.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
