Mexico Is Not Paying For Border Wall?

From the moment President-elect Trump announced his candidacy for President of the United States, he promised his supporters to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico. His original plan was to have Mexico pay for the funds to build the wall but unfortunately, that is no longer the plan, it's on us America. How and why? You might ask yourself. According to Politico, President-elect Trump and the Republicans in the house of Representatives are attempting to use the Secure Fence Act. This law was created in 2006 by President George W. Bush, it was not executed until now and the legislation has already given the authority to build over 700 miles of barrier on the southern border between the U.S. and Mexico.

Now that there is a law that supports the building of the border wall, the next question is How will it be paid for? Trump wanted Mexico to pay for the construction project but according to Politico, the Republicans are looking into a funding clause for the wall into a budgeting bill that they hope to pass by April. What will anger a lot of citizens is the realization that the "funding money" will come from U.S. taxpayers. In other words, the Mexican government is not paying anything for the border wall.

With all this given said, why should Mexico even pay for a border wall they don't want nor support? It makes sense to have the U.S. pay for it but it is also an unnecessary investment. Not to say the least that the money for the wall is coming out of taxpayer pockets which can affect some people's economic standing. The estimated amount of how much the wall will cost is about a few billion dollars to over $25 billion. America is facing other issues that could use the money being invested on a wall that will separate races and families. With or without a wall people will find a way to get into the U.S. and if it is not Mexicans it will be other races.

President-elect Trump is aware of these claims and tweeted, "The dishonest media does not report that any money spent on building the Great Wall (for sake of speed), will be paid back by Mexico later!" If Mexico is not accepting to be held accountable for the finances of the wall right now, they won't be later. Mexico is very against Trump's and congress desire for the wall that even Mexico's ex-president called Trump's border wall "a racist monument". Would anyone disagree with this? America is full of diverse cultures and the Mexican culture has been one of the biggest influences. Whether it is in fashion, food, business, music, etc. Right now the main focus is on getting rid of Mexicans, after that who will be next?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
