Taking time off to figure yourself out and learn more about who you are in terms of what you like and don’t like is something everyone should do.
You see, going on to college right after high school doesn’t give a young, clueless individual a chance to learn all about the adult world and figure it out.
We live in a very hypocritical, confusing environment that presents little room for freedom and exploration as soon as you graduate.
Staying up late till 3am stargazing, traveling the world, taking dance classes, and painting a messy masterpiece are not only fun, but worth the time.
All these activities and more allow you to narrow down your true strengths and weaknesses, instead of aimlessly wandering around a college campus with not a chance to really explore everything that life has to offer.
In the process of trying something new and discovering that it doesn’t work out, at least you can say you tried and you’re one step closer to finding what makes you truly happy and excited to wake up in the morning.
Society is ugly and it will often times find itself trying to tell you how to live your life and what to do.
I can’t stress enough how much everyone should take some time, weeks, months, years whatever it takes, to find yourself and your place in this world.
Once you have your passions and hobbies figured out, then you should go on full heartedly to master it and invest heavily in that field, time, energy, and money alike.
Until then, wasting thousands upon thousands of dollars to only get more lost and confused about yourself isn’t smart or practical.
I wanted to write this article to all my friends and readers that don’t know which career path they want to take right now: it’s okay. Don’t listen to what everyone else around you is saying and do you. It’s not you that has it wrong, it’s the other side that does.
Stay happy, stay fearless, and follow your heart.
Sincerely,
A girl who isn’t in college either
