After meeting you, I had no idea how much you would mean to me now. I'm the opposite of sappy, rather unaffectionate, and really really weird most of the time. But somehow you didn't care. You sit there while I complain about every little thing, you laugh when I make even the slightest bit of a funny joke, and you never fail to put the biggest smile on my face.

Before we met, I obviously knew what it meant to love someone, but I never truly experienced it. I don't mean for this to be overly sappy, but it's true. You showed me what it means to care about someone's happiness just as much as my own. You showed me what it means to miss someone after 5 minutes, and to be comfortable enough to split two entire pizzas.

The surprises and cute dates can't even begin to describe all the amazing things you do for me. No one has ever cared about me the way that you do. You take what's best for me first and even put me before yourself at times.

We talk about the craziest things, not to mention all the weird things we do together. It's nice to know that I'll always have someone there to protect me, and even nicer to know that you'll feed me or buy me Starbucks when my attitude gets a little too high. You are always the reason I feel better about myself when I'm feeling down, even if I give you a hard time about it. When we fight, we laugh it out at the end because of how dumb our reasons were for fighting.

You never fail to try to brighten my worst days, or make my brightest days even better. All the little things we talk about mean the most; planning our vacations, all the dogs we could have, or where we're going to go to dinner next. Our insane "Netflix and Chill" sessions of actually binge-watching a show and eating is one of my favorite things we do.

So thank you. Thank you for teaching me how to love someone for everything that they are, and for teaching me how to love myself. Thank you for being 100% you all of the time, and for accepting me through all the mistakes I may have made. You truly are my best friend, and no matter where life takes us you will always mean so much to me.

As Taylor Swift once said, "You are the best thing that's ever been mine"

I love you!

-- your girlfriend

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
