Being Mentally Healthy Should Be Just As Important As Staying Physically Fit

Mental health should be a priority just like physical health! Apparently, seeking medical help for mental reasons have been considered a huge societal taboo for generations. It is something that people are still not able to fully take into consideration in our world. I have seen and heard many people repeatedly getting ostracized by their family and peers when it comes to overcoming their psychological turmoil. Our society is promoting physical health over mental health and this bothers me to quite an extent. First of all, there wouldn't be a healthy person if that person is not happy both internally and externally. In order to lead a healthy lifestyle, it is of utmost importance that you are mentally stable and content with the direction life is taking you.

There are certain levels of events and situations which trigger the onset of mental disorders like depression, anxiety, Schizophrenia, etc. The most prevalent forms of mental disorders are depression, anxiety, and mood disorders amongst the youth of today. Many youngsters of today experience increased amounts of pressure in terms of their educational and future career. Not living up to their full potential discourages them to quite an extent leading to their emotional downfall i.e. depression. Many of my friends are too anxious to appear and even take exams on a regular basis. This is something I strongly believe needs to be cured and improved because exams are always going to be an integral facet of our lives even after college.

On the other hand, many adults suffer from horrible marriages and painful divorces leading them further towards the dungeon of depression, stress, and insecurity. A prime example is that of my friend's mother who is a single mom with two kids and life is not the same after her divorce. She is constantly under a lot of stress when it comes to raising her two kids who are still teenagers and managing everything without her husband. Such chronic stress has also transformed her into a somewhat delusional person at times. The constant realization that someone has brutally suffered from a painful marriage is one wound that perhaps time doesn't heal quickly.

As a young woman, I applaud single-moms who work tremendously to ensure a stable ambiance for their children to thrive in. Essentially, it speaks volumes of a women's never-ending power and how mentally strong they strive to portray themselves in our conventional world. Exhibiting a stable mental state will enable people of all ages to think more rationally and make conscious decisions which will significantly contribute towards them staying actively fit.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
