For many years, it has always been a common thing for women to refer to men as “dogs” when they do something they shouldn’t have. If a guy cheats on his wife, people say he is a dog. If he forgets their anniversary, one may say, “let him sleep in the doghouse tonight.” If he won’t stop flirting with his secretary, his wife may say, “he is a dog and needs to sleep at the foot of the bed tonight.” When a person lets their dog sleep with them, they typically sleep at the foot of the bed. There is a variety of different things people say, but regardless they are saying a man is a dog when he does something bad. Why do people refer to men as dogs? I feel like this in unacceptable and it is a misconception.
I have honestly never been able to wrap my head around this. I currently own a dog and I have had owned others in the past. I love animals, especially dogs. Although puppies or full grown dogs may misbehave from time to time, they still do everything out of love. They are very loving and generous, unlike the man who cheated on his wife and is now considered a “dog.” I think the comparison of the two are incredibly misunderstood. I have no idea where this originated, but I don’t think men should be compared to a dog.
My dog is always loyal to me, unlike many men have been to me. She has never made me cry. Every man that I have ever dated has made me cry at some point or another. Anytime that a man has made me cry, she always tries to lick away my tears and comfort me. In my experience, men don’t want to comfort you when you cry, especially if it is their fault. No matter what I say or do, she would never be mad at me or try to make me feel like less of a person. Too many times has a man said things to me to put me down or belittle me. A dog would never cheat or a lie to you. I have been lied to by a man too many times than I care to count. A dog is always happy to see you no matter what you say or do, which is not the case with men. Dogs want nothing but your love, attention, and affection. My dog never gets tired of cuddling with me. She always wants to cuddle.
Not once has my dog made me cry or did something to hurt my feelings, nor has any of the other dogs that I have owned. We often hear stories of men who cheat on their wife with younger women. A dog would never leave you for a younger, better version. If a dog plays a game with you, it is for fun, not to mess with your mind or emotions. My dog would never get annoyed with me when I cry or when I am emotional. Men have gotten annoyed with me for being “over-sensitive” or “too emotional.”
Dogs actually mean it when they kiss you. They love to cuddle. And no matter what you say or do, they still want all of your love as often as you are willing to give it to them. They will never neglect you. I don’t think I can count high enough as to how many times I have been neglected by a man. Dogs are your truly your best friend and will listen to you and comfort you in your time of need. They are amazing companions. So next time a man lies to you, think twice before you say, “he’s lying like a dog.” A dog will never betray you like a man will.
