To My Perfect Future Little, I Don't Know You Yet But I Love You

My Perfect Future Little,

I don't even know you yet but I am in love with the thought of how close we are going to become. It may sound uber creepy now but I promise, this time next year when you are looking to take on a little you're going to be thinking the exact same thing. You, too, are going to be anxiously awaiting the sister who is destined to be your soulmate.

I can't wait to welcome you home and show you how amazing sorority life is! When I thought about college, I knew I wanted to join a sorority, but I had no idea how truly amazing it would be. I thought that I probably wouldn't fit in, but I'm so happy I gave it a chance and decided to go through recruitment. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made and led me to a home away from home.

It's so strange to think about how just one year ago I was in your shoes. So overwhelmed; unsure of what the future would hold and where I would end up. On top of all of that, the go-go-go mentality you need for the recruitment process took a toll on me and I got bronchitis (fingers crossed that doesn't happen again). So I'm hoping you have a healthier week than I did.
It's positively a one of a kind experience though.

You go from suddenly having close to no friends to having hundreds of not just friends but sisters. The best part is, that they all love YOU and want YOU. They will be there for you in your time of darkness and they will be dancing right alongside you when you are at your happiest.

I want you to know that the very second I get to call you my little will be one of the most special moments of my life. I cannot wait to jump up and down and take a bazillion pictures with you and brag about my amazing new little to all my friends. I cannot wait to go through all your firsts with you and watch you truly embrace what sisterhood means.

I do also have some cliche promises to make to you. I promise to always be there for you when you need me, no matter what. That means if you need a shoulder to cry on or, well anything. I promise to always find time to hang out with you. Let's be honest, college is hectic. There is always a project to do, or a class that you need to study for, or an extracurricular that manages to take up all of your time. But I want us to be close; as close as a Big and Little can be.

So I want to go out on random Starbucks dates and maybe go get our nails done every once in a while. I want to be the best Big to you that I can be. I want to find time in this chaotic life to hang out with the best Little a girl could ask for. There are so many other things that I want to promise you but it'd be a neverending list, so these are just the most important.

So with all of this being said, I can't wait for us to be sisters for life. AND be able to experience all that college has to offer alongside one another! Love you so much already and can't wait to meet you and officially welcome you home!

XOXO,

Your Crazy Excited Future Big

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
