What It Means To Be Thankful

November is a time to be thankful for the things you may not have thought of

What It Means To Be Thankful

November brings Thanksgiving, and with Thanksgiving, you take the time to take a step back and look at what life has given you and thank God for all He has given you.

November is a time to say thank you.

No one has a perfect life, mine is not perfect by any means, and it definitely doesn't deserve an award for the most put together either, but there are things I still have to be thankful for anyway.

This Thanksgiving, my family is happy, and healthy, and most importantly, all together. I have a boyfriend who adores me, a puppy that I get to play with, a sister who blesses me with random fits of laughter, parents who are way too strict but love me nonetheless, grandparents who are my best friends and friends who teach me more about myself during my time in college than I ever would have figured out alone.

November is a time to reflect.

My life has always been the definition of a rollercoaster, a none stop ride of highs and lows I wish I could control. I've learned that with every low point means there's a turning point around the corner.

I've learned to be thankful for my lows because they make the highs so much better. There is no secret to the perfect life, or perfect anything whether it be grades, family, friends, sports and so much more. What we have to do is appreciate what we have.

Chances are, if you looked at your life now and compared it to your life 5 years ago, 1 year ago, or even 6 months ago, you're going to like the change that it's brought on, or at least admit that you got through the bad thing, and you're better off now, and that although you thought it was the end of the world then, you've come to realize just how much bigger the world is from you.

November is a time where I'm thankful for time.

Year after year, day after day, things are constantly changing, and as Ellis Grey would say "The carousel never stops turning." What she forgot to mention was that although time stops for nothing or no one, it gives you so much to look forward to.

Every day you are blessed to wake up, alive and breathing, so make that day count. I'm thankful for the opportunities I have been given because every day you wake up, you never know the fate of the future. Every day you wake up, it is a new door you get to open. November is a time where I'm thankful for time.

November is a time to be thankful.

It doesn't matter what it is, who you are, or what you've got, we all have something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. As we sit around the dinner table, whether it's's laughing with our families, watching the drama unfold during a holiday, or a little bit of both, be thankful you have a dinner table to sit at and food to eat.

This holiday, just be thankful.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
