From when you were just a baby to the age you are now, music has become and always has been a big part of our lives, and during each stages of life it has held such an importance to us. It surrounds us no matter where we are or what we are doing, and it subconsciously plays with our head and our thoughts without us knowing. One of the best aspects about music is that it is ALWAYS there, wether you need a good song to jam out to in the car with your friends or a sad song to put on repeat because you just got dumped and are in desperate need of a good cry. It speaks to us when no one else will, and its there during the good and the bad. Music says so much about a person and is a part of who we are.
The generation of music has grown into something totally different than what it used to be, and these days it seems the only thing that matters to younger kids is if the song is really catchy or has a good beat -- which ends up making the song so popular. But what happened to the true talent that is hidden in music that is now blinded by loud obnoxious beats and auto-tuned voices? Don't get me wrong I am not saying I don't love a nice Justin Beiber jam, but I wish music was still appreciated as much as it was 30 years ago. Even just the choice of lyrics and raunchiness is what children are hearing when they turn on the radio. I know for me the music that my little brother listens to is not like my old hannah montana jams. Music is making kids and teenagers mentally mature much faster than needed, they are learning too much too fast and it slowly but surely rips out pieces of their childhood. It seems all the popular songs are focused on the topics like sex, alcohol, and drugs. These are all things that are changing the way these kids grow up, something that shouldn't be introduced at such a young age.
Even though music has its downfalls the positive viewpoints seem to almost overrule the sometime negative feelings or thoughts. For me, music is my escape. I utilize music in almost every situation. I love how sometimes it takes exactly what I'm thinking and puts it into words. It drives your mind in a different direction which is good when in a negative place. It guides you through your rough and emotional times (there is nothing like a good Taylor Swift throwback when going through a breakup). Music has become some peoples voices, allowing peoples personalities to blossom to their full potential, and find who they are. Music is so much more than a good song to break out in dance to. So dig deeper in your music, appreciate every lyric that is put into song for you because that is the meaning of music.
