Maybe the Real World Isn't That Bad

Or something like that

Maybe the Real World Isn't That Bad

For the past four years I would pack my bags, book a plane ticket and move to the other side of the world.

Playing basketball while studying something I love was a true blessing and I am beyond grateful that I had the opportunity to do so.

Four years later, I am looking at Facebook and Instagram and see people posting pictures about their "first last day of class." It makes my heart ache and I wish I could pack my bags once again and head over the ocean to spend another year in Maine.

Unfortunately that's not really how life works. I got my degree, which kind of means it is time for me to move on. Here is the real world. I already came to the conclusion that it is a very very scary place.

I am two days before starting into my first year of being a professional basketball player. Doesn't that sound cool? It was always a dream of mine, and I can't believe that I was able to put it into reality.

So this year I still packed my bags, but instead of booking a plane ticket and boarding one, I went by car, five hours to my new destination.

The thing I still can't fully wrap my head around is the fact that I can see my parents whenever I want. I can literally just get in the car or the train and five hours later I am home.

As of right now, the real world doesn't look that scary anymore. My new place is amazing, I have a balcony, a bath tub AND a shower. So really the real world is looking pretty good right now.

I guess it is true what people say, change is good. And even though I wouldn't mind going back to the life I lived for the last four years, I am excited to see what the future holds in store for me.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
