10 Ways To Utilize Your Senior Year

We're a few weeks into senior year, and whether you're struggling, holding on for dear life, or soaring through it without a care in the world, I believe there are a few things we need to do in order to make it the best last year of college.

  1. Surround yourself with people who love you properly and make you happy. I cannot stress this enough. Real friends will celebrate your strengths, but also bring you closer to the Lord in times of crisis.
  2. Switch up who you hang out with. Chances are that you have multiple groups of friends, so don't forget about any of them! Split your time up fairly and enjoy your time with all of them, because you won't all be living in the same city forever.
  3. Be responsible. I get it, it's senior year, and you want to be out and about 24/7, but let's make sure that you only have ONE senior year. In the wise words of Wiz Khalifa, "Work hard, play hard." Get your homework done and don't procrastinate in order to maximize "play" time!
  4. Have fun. Go out on a Wednesday and Thursday and Friday and Saturday, especially if it's not a test week. Why not? What are you going to do, stay at home and watch Netflix?
  5. Sign up for intramural sports. Branch out while being active! You don't have to be an all-star athlete to participate in intramurals, which is my favorite part. There is no shame in being a part of an F team, I know from experience.
  6. RUN AWAY. Seriously, escape your campus every once in a while. Whether its to your friend's lake house or an away game, get away with your friends.
  7. On the topic of away games, GO TO THEM. You don't even have to like the sport, chances are, you know someone at the opposing school or have a friend that lives in the area. Venture off and support your school while you do it.
  8. Take pictures. Your senior year is supposed to be the greatest and you'll want to remember these moments in any and every way possible.
  9. Don't let anyone stop you from enjoying this year. This is a hard one. Sometimes friendships and relationships can become negative and harmful; don't hold on to grudges. Forgive these people and move on, dwelling does nothing except waste valuable time.
  10. Go easy on yourself. You don't have to have it all figured out just yet. Whether it's grad school or a real job in your future, you have some time to figure out the path you're supposed to take.

Whatever you choose to do, make sure you're happy. As awful it is to say, this is going to be a year of lasts, so don't let it slip away. Realize that you won't be surrounded by a majority of your friends after you graduate, so take advantage of being just minutes away from each other.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
