Making The Most Of Your College Experience

College takes up four years of your life. Little kids dream about what it’s like to be in college. Kids in high school pick a school and anxiously wait for the moment that they will officially be in college. College is a once in a lifetime experience that everyone should have. It is a time to let your hair down, study as hard as you possibly can, potentially find that one special person, and ultimately get a college degree that can help you live the life of your dreams. College is four years of your life, but it is the best four years of your life.

Going to college as a freshman is very scary. You don’t know anyone and you don’t exactly know what to expect from a big school with all different types of people. But one key to making the most of your college experience is so meet new people. Joining a sorority was the best thing that I could have don’t to meet new people. The girls I met through my sorority are now my best friends. I can definitely say that I am closer to my college friends than I am to my high school friends. It feels like I have known these girls for my entire life, even when I have only known them for a few years. These girls will be my bridesmaids and they will be there throughout my entire life. Making good friends in college is part of the college experience. The friends you make along the way are what shape the experience you have for the four years you are in college.

Another part of making the most of your college experience is knowing how to balance your time. Time management is everything in college. You need to set some time apart to study for tests, write papers, and do homework. You need to make sure that you don’t procrastinate and get things done. You have to turn in assignments on time or else you get a zero. College is straightforward and to the point. The academics are ultimately why you are in college. You went to college to get a degree in order to get a good job, and studying is the way you will get there.

But studying is not the only thing you should focus on. College is also about having fun and making questionable decisions that you can learn from. Your college years are about going out to parties and having fun. It’s about meeting boys and maybe finding that special someone that you would want to spend the rest of your life with. College is about going a little crazy sometimes and doing the things that your parents wouldn’t always approve of. Trying new experiences is a major part of the college experience.

These four years of college truly are the best years of your life if you make them that. If you put forth the effort to make your college years the best, then they will be. If you try new things, experience things you have never done, and meet new people at every opportunity, then you will have a once in a lifetime college experience. Once college is over and you are in the real world, you can look back at your college years and your college friends and think, “I truly made the most of my college experience.”

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
