“Making a decision was only the beginning of things. When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision.”

― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

Some choices you make in your life will be met with resistance from others. Your decisions will not make sense to them; sometimes, your decisions will not even make sense to you. Like Paulo Coelho says in The Alchemist, making a decision is only the beginning. Some things in life are worth defying logic, which is why we should never let our fears, or doubts make it impossible to make choices that we believe will make us happy.

When life consistently gives us chances make a good life for ourselves, letting apprehensions and worries control the situation is no better than than the worst-case scenario of a decision.

Happiness shouldn’t be postponed because a person is afraid to make a decision just as a person shouldn’t put off their happiness until we have gone through suffering. Happiness isn’t an end result it is the biggest part of our lives. We continue to put so much emphasis on only choosing things which are concrete rather than taking a leap and learning to fly while you fall.

We often shortchange ourselves by giving up our intuition by not listening to what our heart is telling us what we need. We continue to lack trust in the universe to get us to where we want to be by making choices that we can easily predict the outcome of instead of diving into the unknown.

Each decision we make for ourselves, and no one else, is the beginning of a new phase in our journey. It is the realization of our own ability and potential to make a choice towards our own happiness. When you really want something and believe you are making the right decision, time and space bends in order to help you achieve it so long as you are doing it for the good.

When we live vivaciously and without fear, we become better than we are and with that, everything around us becomes better along side it. We are all capable, at any time in our lives; to make a decision that will enrich our lives and make us happier. The future is never revealed to anyone, which means out futures are being composed as we are living, while we are making the decisions that are ultimately pushing us in the direction of our destiny.

By making decisions that make us happy, we are jumping into the current that will carry us to the places we dream about.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
