How I'm Making 2017 The Best Year Ever

2016 was arguably the worst year of my life thus far. So many terrible things happened from financial troubles, to my favorite celebrities' deaths, to the *cough*corrupt*cough* election, to mental health issues. 2016 was not easy. That's why no matter what, I'm going to make 2017 the best year ever. Here's how:

1. Surrounding myself with positive people

If being around someone makes me unhappy, I'm not gonna stand around and take it. I control who I hang out with, and the people I wanna hang out with are the people who make me happy.

2. Practice self-care

I had a major depressive episode in 2016 which led to a lot of things that needed doing getting neglected because I just didn't have the energy to do them. This year I'm going to remember to give myself breaks, and do the little things that make me feel better.

3. Save money

In 2016 I wound up broke because I wasn't careful with my money. I didn't have a job until after freshman year ended in May, and the money I had saved up went to a lot of things didn't need like candy, make-up, and going out with friends. While it's nice to spend money, it's also nice to have money so this year I'm cutting my spending.

4. Not die

I'm not only going to avoid physical death, but mental and emotion death as well. 2016 had me Stressedâ„¢ due to the fact that I took on a lot of responsibities at the same time and didn't take time for myself. In 2017, I'm going to use my time more widely to avoid getting stressed out.

The new year has a lot in store for us, and I'm determined to make it a good one.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
