So you probably thought I agreed there for a minute, but let me tell you that I in no way agree with this statement. I’m not a product that can be bought or owned, therefore false advertisement does not apply to me. I am a human being. This means I am a creature on this Earth with freewill, enabling me the to make the decision to put something on my body is up to me, and me alone.
I understand that I am lucky to have this privilege, that I can wear what I want therefore allowing my ability to enhance or hide whatever way I want. I can wear baggy clothes and no one will have a word to say about it because it is my decision to dress comfortably because let’s face it, sometimes you need a running shorts and t-shirt day. However, I have noticed that if I choose to dress casually or dress up and put make up on I am apparently not myself but become "deceiving" for doing so, because I decided to do what I wanted with my body.
Some people may not get this but I do not spend my money and take up a good chunk of time out of my day to put on make-up to impress ANYONE. My decision does NOT make me a liar or a deceiver, I am not selling myself to anyone. I know that I am beautiful with and without makeup. I also know that if I am having a rough day I will still put on mascara because it like my body guard and I swear it makes me feel better. The point is women should get like things and called not be stupid, degrading, basic or deceiving for like said things. I am allowed to like makeup, I am also allowed to decided not to wear makeup.
I am a feminist and I strongly believe one of the ways men control women today is by commenting or giving negative opinions. When people start making these comments to you, try and get them to stop putting down the things you enjoy and then shut that conversation down. We don't need to put up with that negativity. Just remember to be polite, I try to thank the person for their opinion and then leave the conversation. I did not ask for the opinion or this 'pep talk', if they have something else they would like to talk about, fine. But if not? Bye.
