Adventure is out there!

Summer is coming, and that means bright sunny days at home. Plans are being made, and you are planning on meeting up with your friends back home. Before you know it, you may find yourself back in your cozy bed, staring at your laptop screen as you press "next" on Netflix to watch the next episode. But as it is said in "Up," "Adventure is out there!" And so is getting experience (internships, job, volunteering). Here are some ideas to get you outside this summer.

1. Get a job

Getting a job is one of the best ways to stay busy during the summer. It helps to build up money that you can use during the school year and to get experience working with other people. Not to mention, it is also a resume builder.

2. Go hiking

Go out and find some wooded area to go trekking in. It is nice to find somewhere that you can be totally disconnected from technology and listen to the peace and quiet for a time. It is also a good way to get exercise.

3. Travel to tourist traps in your area

Although you may think this is a waste of time since you live there, really go be a tourist for a day. You may learn something or you might just end up with a bunch of cliche tourist pictures.

4. Exercise

Join a gym or try a yoga class at the YMCA. Trying something new is exciting and helps you to stay busy. You also have the opportunity to meet different people who may have the same interests that you do.

5. Take a summer class

Yes, summer is a time to take off from focusing on studies, but if you want, it can be a time to lighten your load for the next school year or for you to have a chance to learn about something you are passionate about. Take that poetry or photography class so you can hone your skills and do something that you love at the community college.

6. Visit friends

Whether they live 10 minutes from you or are states apart, visiting your friends is a great way to reconnect and go on new adventures. Visiting an out-of-state friend allows you to see the culture they were raised in, and you get to try new food places. Not all states have the luxury of having a Sheetz right down the street from them.

7. Volunteer

Volunteering is a great experience. You get to make a difference and meet new, kindhearted people. It is a great way to give back to your community and to make a difference.

8. Make a bucket list

And aspire to do it all. Summer is a time to be away from your studies and to finally have the time to do the things you want to do. So go out and do it. Before long, you may not have the time to accomplish those goals. When you go back to school, you can build up stories of all of the things you did and be able to proudly state that you had a great summer. Netflix will always be there for you, but this summer of 2016 will come and go quickly. Before you know it, you will be back to full time responsibilities like work and school. Take this summer and make the most of it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
