Very few people look forward to Mondays. People even dread Mondays. Being sad or tired on a Monday is expected. The day is used as an excuse to get out of working hard or to explain a loss of motivation. But I live by a different philosophy. Here are five reasons why Mondays are the best day of the week. Yes, I'm serious.
1. It's a clean slate.
Mondays are refreshing, because you can forget your mistakes and woes of last week and start over. It's a brand new week – the entire week is yours to be productive and change your bad habits. This is extremely important, because some weeks can drag on, so a fresh start can be exactly what you need.
2. You just had a great weekend.
Nothing should make Monday better than having just had a fantastic weekend with friends or family. Even if you spent the weekend doing homework or studying, you were productive and started off this week well.
3. No one appreciates Mondays.
“Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7 of your life.” – Steven Wright
One of the best parts about loving Mondays is that everyone else hates them. While others are exhausted or cranky, you can be the one person smiling and enthusiastically heading to class or work.
4. Back to routine.
While weekends can be fun, they can also be tiring, so a return to weekly responsibilities is comforting. As an organized person, I love having a structured schedule to follow, even if it just means going to class or eating lunch at the same times each day.5. It's almost Friday.
As much as anyone loves Mondays, this day means that Friday is just around the corner again. And that is certainly something to celebrate.
Appreciate your Monday for all it promises, whether it's new beginnings or new opportunities or just completing another day of your week. If you can be happy on a Monday, every day of the week will be a little less awful. Plus, telling people that Monday is your favorite day gets the best reactions.
