Made In The City of Angels: Colourpop Cosmetics

Now, I'm no Makeup guru, but I do have a fondness for makeup. I have always played around with makeup since I was a kid, so I decided to try and give my review of a makeup brand I am currently obsessed with.

This month's obsession is Colourpop Cosmetics. Their products come in three types: Satin, Matte, and Pearlized. Most of the products I have are matte because I'm not necessarily a glossy finish type of person. Too messy for me. I will be showing pictures of the products and what it looks like on me and my honest opinions about it.

Packaging

First of all, the packaging is pretty cute. Nothing much to say about it. The company handled it with care and noted the mail as fragile since I bought some highlighters from them. Also, did I mention that all of their products are cruelty-free? Score! Also, they do give you a pamphlet of some tips and tricks on how to apply some of the products. Especially the ultra matte lips.

Highlighters: Super Shock Cheeks

Now, I have never used highlighters before, but they are literally magical glowy blush that makes your face light up like a beacon when the light hits it just right. It makes you glow fabulously, and honestly, I don't know why I have waited so long to use these highlighters.

Okay, so first up, we have the highlighter called Stole The Show. This is a pearlized highlighter which makes it super shiny. Also, these highlighters are really fragile, so I do have to seal them up really tight. Leaving them out for long could make the highlight lose some of the highlight, you know?

As you can see in this picture below, this is a white highlighter that lightens up your face to emphasize your blush game. This highlighter feels really soft and a little goes a long way. Because this is a vegan product, you do have to build up the intensity. The more you build, the more intense the highlight.

I attempted to try it on, and I have to say, I've fallen in love with it. I feel like a lighthouse when I go out and it does not feel like you have a million pounds on top of your cheeks. For the best coverage, I would suggest using a flat brush to apply this with. I used just a regular eye shadow brush and built the product up to my satisfaction. These pictures really do not do the highlighter justice, but it's the best I could do.I have a little bit of foundation on to have a better view of how it would look if I went out to a party or something.

Next up is the highlighter called Lunch Money.

Again, this is another pearlized highlighter. This one has more of a bronzing effect, but not enough to change the highlight effect. Not as white as Stole The Show, but still is a great highlighter. I tried to put a lot on my cheek, but it kinda matched my skin color. Nonetheless, there is still some shine in there. The texture is a lot thicker than Stole The Show, but again, it's still like butter.

Now on to lippie stix!

Lippie Stix

I will be reviewing the lip primer, Bull Chic, and Rayezor.

First up. will be the Lip Primer. There is no picture for this one. For these two lipsticks, I will be using the lip primer to see how moist it makes my lips and how it makes it easier to put on the product.

First up will be Bull Chic. Bull Chic is a Matte super black lipstick. It is very pigmented, which is good for a black lipstick because usually black lipsticks are cheap and are glossy. They do not stay on as long. I put on the primer which moistened my lips therefore making the matte lippie fix like a glove on my lips. I also used the bull chic lip pencil to make it stay on even longer.

This picture shows the swatches just on my hand. The skinnier one is the lip pencil, and the bigger one is the lippie stick itself.

Again, I'm not good at applying lipstick, but I think I did okay for the first try. WOW THIS BLACK IS VERY SHINY. It does not feel caked on and for some odd reason, it has very pleasant smell to it. Kinda like vanilla.

God, I love this lippie. Definitely my new favorite black lipstick.

Next is more of a neutral color called Rayezor.

I'm not used to wearing this type of color. I usually gear towards the weird colors such as Bull Chic, but this is a really good color on my pale skin. This color is out of my comfort zone, but this lip. THIS. LIP. IS. GORGEOUS. Again, it is just like butter on my lips. It's matte, but it's not matte enough to dry on my lips because I used the lip primer.

It gives off a more pink color on my lips, but all in all, this is a great neutral color!

Ultra Matte Lip.

Now these lipsticks are VERY Pigmented. If you want a matte lip that will stay on for the rest of the night and then some, then this is the product for you. The liquid lip is very thin and it just glides onto your lips. You do have to wait a while for the bottom and top lip to finish drying so you can apply it to the center of your lips for the full look. This stuff does not come off easily. It will literally stick to your lips, and even after you take it off with some makeup remover, there will still be some marks on your face.

Despite that little setback, they are a very good product. Can you believe these sell for six dollars? Yes you heard me right. SIX. BUCKS. A Lincoln and a Washington. How cool is that? I suggest that you shouldn't put chapstick or anything moist on your lips as this might affect the overall coverage of the product. You could use the applicator it comes with, or just use a lip brush. It works either. Now let's see what it looks like on the swatches and my lips.

First up, is Creeper (The Deep Red Lip)

The picture of the swatch on my hand was taken a few seconds after I applied it on my hand. You can see that it is already drying. Just look at that shine it has! It's almost a neon red color.

Again, I'm still learning how to apply the liquid lipstick, but it does look really good on me. This is great for performances or going out on the town. And you don't have to worry about reapplying. Even it some of it comes off, people can't tell because it doesn't flake off like other liquid lipsticks. This will be my go-to Red Lip from now on.

Here is the Pink one called 1st Base.

This is like a pale pink color. This is only one application on it from my hand. It is not sheer, and it is VERY Pink.

This picture of my lips is kinda bad. Again, as I said, sometimes when you remove it, it will leave marks on your lips because these lips are highly pigmented, but it will have to do for this review.

This is a super nice pink on me. It's not too bright to be considered a Neon Pink, but it is pink enough to wear on Valentine's Day or something like that. This is a very playful color. and again, no flaking and it did not crack the whole time I was wearing it. A wonderful color to add to my colour pop collection.

The last product is called Lychee.

This is a more of a lighter purple color in contrast with their other purple color called Be-Dazzled (which I own and love dearly). This is a more subtle purple look that could honestly go with just about anything. Sadly, I did not do a swatch on my hand on this one (apparently I forgot to do that). But overall, this color is very beautiful.

Final Thoughts.

Colourpop Cosmetics has to be the most inexpensive makeup I have ever bought. It is cheap (in the sense of cost), but it has such a professional quality with all of their products. Especially the highlighters. I have only bought lippie stix from them, but I never knew how good their other products were. If you have beauty on a budget, I suggest you order from Colourpop Cosmetics. They are cruelty free and their shipping is pretty fast. I ordered mine last week and just got it a few days ago. That's pretty fast in my book.

I will definitely be buying from them again, and I suggest that you all order from this cosmetic line. I need to try their eyeliner next! Overall I give this store a five out of five. Good quality products at an affordable price. You wanna know how much all of this cost me? 30 Dollars. 30. FREAKING. DOLLARS. At some stores, you can only get one lipstick for fifteen dollars (I'm looking at you, MAC.) So in my opinion, would you rather spending 30 dollars for two lipsticks or get three or four lipsticks each for five or six dollars? That's what I thought.

Order your Ultra Matte Lips and Lippie Stix at Colourpop.com. Made in the City of Angels.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
