No doubt in recent years there has been a rise in athletic women's fashion trends. Leggings have become a standard piece of clothing in a young female's closet. Matching workout gear is a must - how can you go get your sweat on without some sort of color coordination scheme in your outfit?
And while many stores and fitness figures have come out with their own workout clothing lines including, Fabletics by Kate Hudson, Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, Alo Yoga, Athleta, and Reebok, if you are looking for the cutest exercise gear your GO-TO is Lululemon Athletica.
But why pay for the most expensive, high-end athletic wear when you don't consider yourself much of a work-out person? Is paying $100 or more for leggings really worth it if you are not in the gym grinding on a daily basis?
Reality Check: Wearing Lululemon will not instantly make you some sort of yogi star.
The clothes do not make the athlete, the athletes make the clothes.
Being a dancer, Lululemon wear has proved ESSENTIAL when it comes to finding a perfect fit and I would argue that it is well worth the price. When you're in the studio every day, you're going to need something that will hold up and hug in just the right places so as to not hinder any movement.
But what I don't understand is wearing Lulu gear just to look "cute" and be fashionable even though you may never practice yoga or consider yourself a gym rat.
Hate to burst your bubble... but just wearing Lulu will not make you a workout expert. Maybe your Lulu purchase is to spark an effort of trying to get back into a regular workout regimen? In that case, I applaud your efforts.
But I would still wonder why you haven't explored any of the other cute workout pieces offered at decent prices...instead you pick the store that almost never goes on sale. Makes sense...
According to Business Insider, a basic yoga pant from Lululemon is valued at $20 more than the average pair because it knows women will pay for the brand. Just a quick glance at their website will inform you that typical full-length leggings cost anywhere between $98 - $148.
If you're serious about the yoga, pure barre, dance, or other fitness elements in your life, by all means purchasing Lululemon gear can prove to be highly beneficial. Lulu does create high-quality material (usually a mix of Nylon and Lycra) intended for breathable, stretchy athletic wear.
But if you're more of a Netflix-and-chill kind of gal, skip the luxury fitness outfits. You're better off finding some fashionable and reasonably priced sports bras and leggings from TJ Maxx or Forever 21.
