I truly feel that country music is under appreciated.
If you haven't already, I strongly advise you to take some time out of your day and really listen to the lyrics of some of the songs. I don't know if anyone agrees but I feel as though music on the radio these days is all about sex and drugs. It's especially very demeaning and inappropriate to women. Half the songs I need to change if I'm in a car with my dad because I feel so awkward. For example, men who write rap songs talk about how they want to have sex with a women or about how hot her body is. Not once do they talk about taking her on a date or marrying her.
Country songs on the other hand, are the exact opposite. Country songs talk about how beautiful women are and how men want to take them on dates. They sing about how they want to marry the girl and about how much they love them. "Cute" is the perfect word to describe country songs. That is the type of music I want my son to listen to when he grows up. I want him to be a gentleman who respect women, not a player who disrespects them. For example, lets look at the song Die a Happy Man by Thomas Rhett. He sings, "If I never get to see the Northern lights Or if I never get to see the Eiffel Tower at night Oh, if all I got is your hand in my hand Baby, I could die a happy man, yeah" HOW CUTE iS THAT?! He is basically telling his girl that as long as he has her, he will forever be happy, that he doesn't need anything else. Now lets listen to the song I Don't Mind by Usher. He sings, "Your body rock and your booty poppin', I'm proud to call you my bitch" It is not okay to call any woman that word. These type of songs teach kids that the only thing that matter about the woman is the curves on her body.
I hope after reading this article you consider listening to more country music because it truly is the best.
