I'll spend up to an hour primping and prepping myself for a night out, and I am NOT sorry for it.
Every time I stroll into the bathroom to get ready I get that look from my boyfriend. That look that says... why are you putting on all that goop! You don't need it!
Don't get me wrong I love the fact that he loves me in all of my natural beauty, but spoiler alert, the time I spend beating my favorite makeup brands onto my face is a time that I actually look forward to.
I don't spend an hour on my hair and makeup to feel better about myself. I do it because I really have a love for makeup and beauty products. Okay and maybe I really love the way my urban decay eyeshadow looks on my perfectly primed lids, but thats just a minor detail.
I hear it all the time that a person will think that another puts way to much makeup on, or that their makeup is to dramatic and dark, and that they should try things that are more neutral and natural looking.
These are the opinions that you should not even bat a perfectly coated eyelash of mascara at.
If you love your makeup dark and dramatic then wear it that way.
If you like rocking that purple, blue, black, red, or brown shade of lipstick then more power to you.
If you like your highlighter to be as blinding as the sun when you walk outside hungover as hell from the previous night of drinking then so be it.
If you like your eyeshadow to be smoked out and edgy because it makes you feel unstoppable then sweetie make those eyelids unforgettable looking.
Makeup is a way of describing and expressing yourself. Every time I go to get ready it's almost like I am about to tell a story of myself to the world. Including every single person I will encounter that day.
Often times my makeup look will reflect my mood for the day, and some days that may be a natural feel, and others it will be dramatic.
Either way I strongly encourage everyone who loves makeup as much as I do to embrace yourself the way you love to express yourself.
Love yourself no matter what anyone thinks of you and your makeup habits.
