I have a lot of things I find fascinating and fun, and because of this, I've explored many different types of arts and subjects to find what I do best. Several of the fields I'm fairly alright and comfortable in, even if they don't interest me after testing the waters. But one that I do love a lot, but could never get down is music. I'm in love with music, and I would love to be a musician. But as of right now, I cannot claim this title. This has been an area that I have worked on for a while, and I still feel as clueless as the day I started to explore it. I've tried attacking music from many different angles.
The first way I've tried to learn an instrument first. I've decided to try my hand at learning guitar, and I had a blast at it. I've managed to get lessons from a personal teacher for a few weeks, but then I couldn't attend to these lessons due to transportation issues at the time. I've had a lot of fun trying to learn the instrument. I was a bit too ambitious with the songs I wanted to learn and write, which has allowed me to grow much quicker. But sadly nowadays, I don't have as good as a grasp of playing as I used to. I have picked it back up recently, but I have a long way to go to have it be a fluent tool of expression for me.
Next thing I tried was doing vocal music. It sounds weird because I didn't explore singing first, I explored doing metal vocals before wanting to learn how to sing. I've gotten the privilege to a part of a metal band with a few buddies of mine. To say the very least, it was an awesome undertaking. Plenty of struggles came from being an individual performer, and then putting it all together as a band. We also had struggled with finances as a band, because if we wanted to perform at venues, we'd have to meet a financial quota from ticket sales to play there, and if we didn't, we had to pay out of pocket. Ultimately I've gotten to experiment a lot with my voice during this time and got to learn a lot of things about what I could or couldn't do. I'm now trying to learn how to sing, and it's much more difficult than doing metal vocals for me.
Finally, I've tried learning about to create digital music. I'm still as green as grass with this field. One big thing I've learned from this is that if you have the right equipment for it, you don't have to have hundreds of instruments to create a very diverse sound, which is great for someone like me who just got started learning about this field.
Even though I still don't have a firm grasp on any aspect of music, I still have a large admiration for the subject and those who have a much better understanding. It takes a lot of work and practice, so anyone who can manage any area of music has my respect. I hope to eventually have a good grasp on something musical in the future!
