You were always on my mind...

Dear Vacation I Didn't Take,

Man, I have been thinking about you lately. Just yesterday it seemed like school was out and in what seems like a blink of the eye, summer is almost over. I spent so much time day dreaming about the perfect vacation. The options out there are nearly endless. I dreamed of Chicago, Panama City, Washington D.C., and on even more ambitious days I dreamed of Europe and even the Caribbean. I would have even been happy taking a mini weekend getaway just to get out of town.

Did my dreams come true? Unfortunately not. I had high hopes, but unfortunately the broke college kid struggle is real. While I was dreaming of busy city skylines and serene, sandy beaches I was stuck in reality working my summer away. Don't get me wrong, I love my job and my coworkers, but it was still a bummer to have to miss out on all you have to offer: the sunshine, the warm weather, and all the new experiences with my best pals. I will admit that looking at everyone else's photos from their own vacations makes it sting a little more than expected, but my love for you will go on.

I may not have gotten to see you like I hoped, but this summer wasn't a complete bust. Lots of work meant making a little bit of money which is always a good thing. I also got to spend some relaxing days with the people I love and that's pretty hard to beat. I may not have been on the beach, but I still got to soak up some sun and enjoy some beautiful summertime weather.

So, while I may be a little bummed that summer is almost over and I didn't get to go on the quintessential summer getaway, I'm excited for what's to come. The new semester is bringing so many opportunities and I'm ready to get back to my normal schedule. So, though time may separate us for a little while longer, you are always on my mind and in my dreams. Besides, there's always next year. so maybe I'll see you then!

With all my love,

Caitlyn

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
