A Love Letter To My Tevas

At first I thought you were ugly, but now I wear you everyday.

I'm not gonna lie.

At first, I thought you were so ugly. You and Chacos. I didn't understand the hype and it's probably because I was already in a committed relationship with my hot pink crocs. I couldn't think of ever leaving them, let alone replacing them with another shoe.

However, everyone started to obtain these shoes and I started seeing people wearing them around campus more and I started to see a variety of colors and patterns and thought to myself, "Wow, these shoes are really taking off!"

But, I still didn't want to buy any. I was that kind of person that liked to follow trends and wear the latest fashions and styles, but I could just not see myself ever wearing those shoes. Like cmon, they were like hiking shoes, what's the point of wearing them everyday?

Well, a few months passed and I came home from school and I happened to be scrolling through a shoe site looking for some comfy summer shoes. I found myself staring at a pair of Chacos. I think I finally saw what everyone else was seeing in these shoes!

They were super stylish and you could honestly wear them with everything. I found a pair of Chacos I liked and went to put them in my cart, when I realized how expensive they were. $105 for just ONE pair. Man did I really want a pair, but I couldn't afford to drop that much money on one item at the moment.

So, I gave up the dream of owning Chacos and continued to search for another shoe that would fit my foot AND my budget. That's when I landed on Tevas. They looked just like Chacos, but they were cheaper and had a different layout concerning the straps.

It was more like a sandal that I would have worn as a kid, one that straps everywhere, but you usually would just unstrap the back and slip it on. These shoes looked just as cute as Chacos, so I searched and searched Amazon for the perfect pair, because you know if I was going to be wearing these for awhile, I needed them to look cute.

After scrolling through my options, I found the perfect pair! They were purple with little striped designs on them and I knew that they were going to be my new favorite shoe.

When they arrived two days later, I couldn't wait to try them on. I couldn't remember the last time I was so excited about getting a new pair of shoes! They were the perfect fit and oh so comfortable. I think I wore them every other day/on the days that I didn't work. I wore them shopping, to the beach, on dates, and even for one of their soul purposes...hiking!

I'm not even mad that they give you awkward tan lines that see to last for weeks because, let's face it, no one will really notice because you're always on my feet! I'm also usually that person that always takes her shoes off whenever she walks into a house. For some reason, though, I always forget to take them off because they're just so comfy and I love wearing them that much!

Tevas, you are so comfortable and stylish and I am so thankful that I chose to bring you into my life. It was the best $50 I ever spent and I wish I could buy more of you. I'm sure that Chacos have the same effect and feel the same way, but my preference will always be with Tevas. It was hard letting another shoe into my life, because I'm so picky about my shoes and how they feel on my feet, but Tevas won my heart.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
