Any time there is a special event, or simply getting ready for school, dressing and the works can go one of two ways. It could be as easy as 15 minutes or a natural disaster could occur with one or multiple aspects of my timely preparation.
1. 9 times out of 10, my hair will never be perfect and will most definitely not cooperate as planned.

There are rare occasions when my hair will be on fleek, looking stunning.
But this usually happens when there are no plans and I have nowhere to be, of course.
2. To prevent a natural disaster from occurring, I usually plan out my outfit the night before. Or, I lay out a few outfits to choose from in the morning.
Usually this works, and if I’m lucky, I’ll have extra time to eat breakfast!
But sometimes, I’ll start to get ready and none of the 100 options I thought I could rely on look good. Then I have to start from scratch. Then nothing looks good. Now I’m stuck staring at my closet frustrated and naked with 2 minutes before I have to run out the door.
Usually, I end up running out the door with 2 different shoes on and my hair and teeth not brushed all because my clothes decided to fail me.
3. A grueling reason for getting ready for anything is waking up. Especially if it’s earlier than normal.
I will always leave an ample amount of alarms to go off for me to have extra time to get ready in case the hair or clothes disaster decides to occur.
But if I didn’t get enough sleep, or can’t seem to open my eyes on those first couple alarms, snooze will be my best friend. And the consequences are not pretty.
4. Coffee and food are a necessity. I cannot function without at least one cup of coffee and some type of breakfast to start my day.
This is usually the reason I am late to everything because disasters number 1 through 4 probably occurred and I didn’t have enough time left to make any food or sit down to have my coffee. So I end up running around to make it and I refuse to leave the house without a to-go cup and a piece of toast in my hands.
5. Lastly, and most commonly for us girls when getting ready for anything, is the makeup challenge. Similarly with hair and clothes, it’s a hit or miss.
Everything could go as planned, and you can end up looking flawless in 5 to 10 minutes! Or you could sneeze while putting on your mascara, end up getting it all over your freshly powdered face and have to start over.
After starting over, your eyelashes could stick together and mascara just wouldn’t be an option anymore. Then you look over and 45 minutes have gone by, your outfit is half together, your hair is in tangles and your toast is burning.
Time to crawl back into bed, send your remarks that you will not be making an appearance, and try again tomorrow.
Getting ready for anything could be a no brainer, or it could be the most tragic start to any day in your life. I wish you the best luck tomorrow morning!
