Before I began writing this article, I had the idea to write about walking in other people's shoes and how everything is not about me. As I began typing, I was paying attention to how many times that I typed the word "I." I quickly stopped typing and took a second to reflect. How can I write an article on how I'm not the only one in the world when every sentence was about me? I had to take a break and really think about this. What am I gaining from focusing only on myself?
What seems to be almost a epidemic is people only paying attention to themselves. It's ridiculous. When I look at the world I see hate and anger, where we should be seeing love and kindness. Ephesians 5:2 says, "And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma."
We, as Christians, are called to walk in love. God sent his only Son for us. God's love is never ending and never ceasing. So how come we can't show love towards our fellow man? Showing love could be in the simplest of things. So I challenge to find a new way to show someone love and compassion this week.
As we are called to love each other, we are also called to love the Lord. Deuteronomy 6:5 says, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength." The title in my bible for Deuteronomy 6 says "The Greatest Commandment." Sounds pretty important, right? We are called to be doing this but when I look around I don't see much love going around. With this being said, I'm going to put this into action. I want to show the love of Jesus through me. How can we say we are His chosen people when we are acting selfish? Love God, and love others. It's a choice for you to make. Which will you pick?
