Why The Love You FInd In College Is Unlike Anything Else
We Heart It

College is one of the most intense, crazy, and exciting times in your life. There are so many things to think about, that for most people looking for love in college becomes a search left for the back burner, so to speak. But for those of us who are lucky enough to find it, it is like nothing else.

As a transitional time in your life, college is where lots of growing up and expanding your comfort zone takes place. You have a lot more on your plate than in high school, and at the same time its still okay to suck at "adulting." So as you experience a whole new sense of independence, those who experience it alongside of you will forever be etched into your memory.

Despite all of the frat parties and wild night stories you heard about college, thats not all there is to it. It brings out some intense emotions that you least expected. With the excess stress of classes and the overwhelming sense of change, sometimes it is nice to have a shoulder to cry on whose experiencing it all with you -- someone who understand that your 8 AM class is the bane of your existence, and that the cafeteria food just isn't cutting it for you anymore, ya know? Being at a similar point in life (and having similar things to complain about) with your significant other can only make your bond stronger.

Finding love in college also means that you will be seeing a whole lot of your significant other, whether it be in the halls on your way to class or hanging out. All that time together can be a blessing and a curse. At the same time, you most likely don't live near your significant other since a school brought you together, so during breaks time apart can also be a good thing. So much time together to balance the time that you are apart is a good combination for many. And college is the only time that this timeline will work out perfectly.

Speaking of a lot of time together, over the course of the school year you see your significant other at their best and at their worst. You'll see how organized they keep their dorm or apartment, you'll learn what kind of shows they watch on Netflix in order to procrastinate studying, you'll meet all of their friends. And you will probably be there for when they freak out over a yet they didn't study for, for when they argue with their friends, and for when they had a rough night at the bars. College is the setting where you can learn so much more about your significant other than most other scenarios would allow for.

The love you find in college is new, exciting, and nothing like anything you have ever experienced before.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
