To my sunshines, I will always be your auntie

I didn't really know what to expect with being an auntie, would we just see each other on holidays and birthdays or would we FaceTime a few times a week because I miss you like crazy. My two nephews are definitely the best parts of my life and for them, I only wish the most happy, love filled life, so...

To my boys,

First off, I just want you to know how much you are loved. Not a day goes by that your sweet smiles and innocent laughs don't cross my mind. I hope you know how important you are to me and how much love I have for you. Never could I have imagined, I could love anyone as much as I love the two of you.

As you get older, I hope you never lose your sense of wonder. Every time I turn around, you're growing and discovering new things, with a wide-eyed gaze, mesmerized by the beauty in everything. I hope that never fades and each day you grow, but never lose sight of the wonders of the world and the wonders of yourself.

Always remember, I am just a call away. They say distance makes the heart grow fonder, and for me that is most definitely true. I took living with you for granted and now I go weeks without seeing you at a time. The distance is hard, probably harder for me than you, but it makes every FaceTime and visit home that much better. Don't ever doubt that I am here for you every step of the way and if you ever need, I'll be home in the blink of an eye.

As you grow up, I hope you always remember, mistakes are a part of life and I promise to always fix them for you as best as I can and remember I will always be in your number 1 fan and always by your side. From all of your future school accomplishments, plays, games, and whatever else you get yourself involved in, I will be there, beaming with joy because my little angels are growing up.

No matter how old you get or where we all end up, I will always be your auntie. I will always be there for those things you need help with but don't want to ask mom and dad, for those things you desperately need (want) and mom and dad say no. I will always be the person you can turn too and I promise to never be too hard on you, but always push you to be your best. I will always be proud of you, always love you, and always be your auntie (and your favorite).

I look forward to every second of growing up with you boys, seeing your smiles, and loving you more and more every day. Thank you for being my sunshines.

Love always,

Auntie

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
