Every year, I lose at least two water bottles. Why? Let's find out.
For starters, water bottles are not important.
In 50 years, I won't remember the color of my water bottles, which ones I had at what point, or what kind of water bottles my friends had. What I will remember is the things I was doing while losing water bottles; by this, I do not mean the exact thing, but I mean the grand scheme. Maybe I was out with friends, on a road trip, staying fit or a million other activities. Those moments are what I will remember, not some piece of plastic I had. Because whatever the task was that I was completing, it was so important, I could not remember to grab my water bottle. I have lost them just about everywhere, from the gym, to class, to when I was traveling, even in my house (yes, I would like that explained as well). Let's explore the water bottles I have, and have lost.
Due to losing water bottles so frequently, I have started using ones that are fairly cheap--I currently have four, due to fear of losing one. One is a pink water bottle that I picked up for $10 at a Stop and Shop a few months back. Two I got from a grocery store called Big Y, where they were two for one, which came out to $2.50 each, and he last one I got for free. I love water bottles, especially reusable ones, as this helps me to always stay hydrated, and save the environment. But originally, I did buy expensive water bottles, with Marist logos on them and CamelBaks, but they ended up becoming worn out. Yes, my $15 Contigo water bottle got worn out to the point that the rubber always fell out and it would not stay closed. But the ones I have that were all less than $10? They work great, the water tastes fine, looks fine, and I do not mind losing them.
So, moral of the story? Don't sweat the little things, and don't spend $30 on something you might lose or wear out. Spend your money on experiences, not trivial things that can be easily replaced.
