All festivals vary as well as what you wear to them. I love to shop and festivals are an excuse for me to buy outfits without feeling guilty. Whether you are buying a cute cover up or suit for a beach festival, a sundress for a day one, or full costume mode, putting together outfits is always fun".
This is an excerpt from an article I wrote explaining my obsession with festivals.
The 34th annual French Quarter Festival was held in New Orleans this weekend. As a NOLA native and festival enthusiast, there's no surprise that I was in attendance.
My city has so much character and you could see it in the outfits that flooded the Quarter this weekend.
I literally couldn't keep up and eventually just started taking pictures of people (and then eventually stopped because my camera quality is just terrible...you'll be able to tell the difference between the ones I took and didn't).
Unfortunately, I was only able to attend the festival for a couple of hours on Friday before returning to Lafayette to work on Saturday. However, I stalked looks via the #FQF hashtag, my explore page, news feed, and the French Quarter Festival location on Instagram. Here are some of my favorites!
So...I actually almost missed French Quarter Fest (I would have cried). I was coincidentally down the road in Edgard, Louisiana to cover a story and just happened to have time to come home for the remainder of Friday to enjoy some festivities.
With that being said, outfit wise, completely unprepared!!!!
I put together the most "festive" look that I could with a thrift store crop top, my grandmother's hand-me-down pants (that I usually wear as PJs) and my cream Converse which, as you can see, have been through a lot.
This is the first look that I saw that inspired the picture taking. The hair, the hoops, the pants. I was so here for all of it. Very cute, Kristina!

Again, my crappy camera quality does no justice to this dress, but Kyna has a super pretty silver thread detail on this purple halter maxi dress! Love the black accessories and the crossed leg/wine in hand just tied it all together.
THESE GUYS!!!
I actually stopped to snap the fringe jacket and rainbow boots...then I saw the bomber and sandals and said, "Oh my god you get in this picture too."

Okay, enough of my awful photography...
Speechless, per usual. I honestly gasp every time Armande surfaces my newsfeed. SHE. ALWAYS. WINS. She pulls her outfits together with such creativity, elegance, and edge.
following her Instagram account will be the best thing you do all week: @meezphoen
Ouuuuhhhh, yeah Tai! More wide-legged jeans! So, so flattering and I love a blue/grey color scheme!

RED! Another color that pops on melanin! I like the neck on this romper a lot! Very popping and tasteful, Cayla!
Be on the look out for the blog she has in the works!

Speaking of red, I love using red as an accent to jazz things up like Amanda did here!

More red accents! I love everything about this. I love camo and I've been loving these mesh dresses (just haven't been able to find one for short girls like me.) I usually see the mesh dresses paired with a skirt and crop or mini dress under, but I love how Erika incorporated the jean shorts!

I love how Chelsie took a simple black romper and pulled this look together with the cutest accessories (puff ball slides, clear purse, bright blue sunnies and choker).

I hope overalls never go out of style (even if they do, I'll still wear them weekly)! Dr. Sheika Square (author of 21 Day Word Revolution, available through Barnes and Noble, Kindle and Amazon) looks adorable in hers!
