Summertime is my favorite part of the year, especially since moving to Michigan. I can't wait for the long days of sunshine, snow cones, catching up with old friends, and so much more.

After a long Michigan, winter and cold, rainy spring bring on the sunshine and flip-flops!

1. The most obvious... warmer weather.

I think everyone is ready to ditch the boots and bring out the sandals.

2. The long days on the lake.

There's no better day spent than at the lake with a group of friends and endless fun.

3. Sleeping in until all hours of the day.

Unless your work day starts early, you can look forward to some extra sleep.

4. No school or homework!

Summer classes are sometimes necessary but the best part is that they're usually only a month or two long.

5. Tanning on a dock or at the beach instead of at the salon.

Get ready to lay out and soak up that natural Vitamin D.

6. Fire works on the Fourth of July.

Hands down my favorite holiday. It's the perfect weekend to get away and spend with friends and family.

7. More time to make money.

While you might wanna fill up your summer with fun plans, it's also the perfect time to ask your boss for extra hours.

8. Getting organized and flipping your closet to summer clothes.

As soon as classes end for Spring semester, it's the perfect time to flip your closet to summer clothes and reorganize your bedroom.

9. Drinking iced coffee/tea again!

Finally acceptable to order an iced drink from your local coffee shop and not have to worry about your hand freezing.

10.  Rolling down the windows and feeling the wind in your hair.

There's something about rolling down the windows and letting the fresh breeze roll in that makes your day 5X better.

11. Eating fresher and more tasty fruit.

Summertime is the perfect time to fill up on all those fruits that weren't ripe over the window. I can't wait for juicy watermelon and strawberries all summer long.

12. The nice warm, longer days.

Summer is the time to get out and do things from sunrise to sunset, even better you get at least 10 hours to do so.

13. Attending outdoor concerts.

A classic summer tradition is to get a group of friends and go to an outdoor concert venue, one you won't regret.

14. Finding new outdoor adventures.

Hiking, walking, biking, it's all better when its 75 degrees outside and the sun is shining.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
