Long- Lasting Positivity Starts With Your Schedule

We know that positivity is contagious, so shouldn’t we want to spread it even if it means waking up early.

A solution that you probably weren’t expecting to hear, but if you’re searching for ways to be that salt and light then you may want to consider getting up a little earlier. Yes, I know what you’re thinking…how is it that that by becoming an early riser will I be not only more positive but an influence as well?

I can only speak from my experience when I say that this trick is such a catalyst for a better day. I am definitely one of those people who needs some coffee, quiet time, and just time to grasp a mindset that if that bug of negativity wants to attack today well then I am going to squash it before it even has a chance to invade.

By allotting time alone it allows for that time to be the moment of change, and to really gear yourself for the day ahead. Hiccups throughout the day are almost inevitable, but the response to them is certainly something we have control over.

Let me just be clear, I am not saying that you should or have to get up three hours before you normally do; however, I am saying that by you giving yourself more time alone in the mornings creates a drastic change in both your attitude and your response towards others.

It is because your day has started earlier than the world that you are able to reflect, grow, think, and discover who you really are.

There is just something powerful in being intact with yourself. It just shows you the ability you already have, the potential you can reach, and the motivation that doesn’t need to come from anywhere else other than within.

So yes, do plan to get up an hour earlier…and don’t let yourself say okay I am going to plan for my extra hour to be 6-7 and then stay in bed until 6:30 and then think you are going to get the most out of your quiet time.

Once again you have to want this, you have to want to make a difference and to leave a mark. Rising up earlier merely makes that task that much easier, because of its effectiveness to just literally give you a “wake up period.”

Without trying new things and using process of elimination to truly determine how you function, you have no right to complain about things not working out in your favor. Because maybe just maybe you never put in any effort to think that by the change in your actions it would lead to the difference in the world around you.

Discover the world and yourself just a few hours earlier than normal, I promise it is difference you do not want to miss out on.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
