Living four months home, and being eight months away is a strain on a relationship and only the strongest make it out alive (or in other words, happily in love).
I’m sorry I can’t be there eating pizza after midnight with you. I’m sorry I can’t cuddle up next to you after a long day of classes or work. I’m sorry I can’t sit next to you during a late night fire with our friends, or be your backup singer during a long car ride. I’m sorry I won’t be there to give you a big hug after you aced your paper or help take care of you while you’re sick. But I will always be your number one fan, your Dr. Phil, the shoulder you can cry on, your homie, your smile at the end of a rough day, and one day, your happy ending. Even when I’m not there, I will always be there for you.
Personally, no guy I’ve ever potentially dated understood that concept, so here I am.
The automatic third wheel to every outing, the “let me eat this whole tray of pizza because I have no one to impress” kind of girl, the person who gets jealous of cute couples on Instagram, and most importantly, the one who relates with Taylor Swift more than anyone else.
So whether it be the thought of cheating, facetime poor connections, expensive plane tickets, or the idea of hearing or reading about your significant other’s day through a text or phone call usually makes most cringe at the thought of going through that. But I hate to break it to ya fellas, if she’s a good, honest girl she will not cheat on you. And here’s another kick to the chest, people cheat even when they live 5 minutes away from each other, or even in the same house. So...if that is your excuse for not pursuing a long distance relationship, I would personally suggest that you come up with another reason.
I countdown the days until I am able to see my friends and family face to face again. Those days you do spend together tend to be some of the most memorable and happiest moments you will have with them. You will learn to cherish your time together. Yes, it will be hard at first to date the girl who does not live a few miles away from you, but realize, college is only a couple of years.
And if she’s like me, and goes to school in Florida, you can visit her in paradise anytime you please (as long as it is not finals or sorority recruitment week).
