Let's be honest... Summers following college suck. You're separated from the place you've been living for a year (if not more), the food you've been surviving off of (although some cafeterias are better than others), and, most importantly, your best friends. This last reason is the primary cause of college students disliking summertime - no one wants to be separated from their closest friends for 3 months. That's crazy! But, there aren't a lot of options, so with the help of Grey's Anatomy I will discuss the broken-heartedness that is long distance friendships.
1. When you first leave school and you think, "Maybe I'll survive!"
You're wrong. You won't survive. It's going to be a long three months.
2. Those first two weeks when you're sure that you will not survive.
Everything sucks, and you just want to cry.
3. So you constantly text/FaceTime to keep up to date on each others lives.
"You saw who?! No, no.... It is NOT a good idea to hang out with your high school before, Rebecca!"
4. You might even send a letter or two.
You just miss them...so much.
5. When they finally come visit you.
I would love nothing more than to eat a large pizza together and talk about boys, thank you very much.
6. But... then they have to go home again.
You feel the loss from the beginning of the summer all over again.
7. When you all get busy with your summer jobs and can't talk as often.
Will it ever get better?
8. When people ask how your summer is going.
You try not to sound bitter and cynical, but... Well, you are bitter and cynical.
9. But, eventually, time starts to pass... And it's then its almost time to be reunited.
God bless America!
10. When you're finally reunited.
It's like you were never apart.
Although being apart during the summer is awful, it's important to be thankful for the friendships you have, the ones that make being hours away from each other so hard.
