Virginia Beach is a pretty cool place (aside from all the traffic and tourists, that is). For days when you want to do more than just watch Netflix in bed, I have comprised together a list of fun activities that you can do around the city:
1. The Escape Room
60 minutes to escape a room full of clues, codes, and ciphers. It's a fun way to stimulate your mind so that it doesn't turn into mush by the time school starts again.
2. Sandbridge
WHATEVER YOU DO, AVOID THE OCEANFRONT AT ALL COSTS. Sandbridge is the beach locals go to relax and save money on parking.
3. Mt. Trashmore
Yes, Mt. Trashmore really is a mountain made up of trash. No, it doesn't smell. It's a fun place to exercise, picnic, skate, embrace nature, and roll down. Seriously. If you grew up in Virginia Beach, there is a pretty good chance that one of your favorite childhood memories was spending hours with your friends rolling down Mt. Trashmore.
4. iFLY Va Beach
Indoor skydiving..... Need I say more?!
5. Skinny Dip (with your clothes on)
Hands down, one of the best frozen yogurt shops in Virginia Beach is Skinny Dip! It's locally owned and has a lot of fun flavors ranging from "Cap'n Crunch" to "Fluffernutter". Bonus: they offer a military discount!
6. Adventure Park
The Adventure Park is a giant outdoor park where guests can climb around on different obstacle courses and even zipline! It also makes for great Instagram photo ops.
7. The Mermaid Factory
The Mermaid Factory is the perfect outlet to express your creativity. You can decorate your own ceramic mermaid or dolphin with the endless amounts of paint and art supplies provided in the air conditioned facility.
8. Top Golf
Top Golf is not your traditional golf course. It features three floors of hitting suites where you can competitively play golf, listen to music, and eat delicious food. There's even an upscale bar for those 21 and older to enjoy.
9. Dolphin Tours
Ever want get up close and personal with a dolphin? Through a company called Rudee Tours, you can go on a dolphin tour where you are GUARANTEED to see dolphins. Again, perfect opportunity for Instagram pictures.
10. Virginia Amphitheater
Whether it's called Farm Bureau Live or the Veteran's United Home Loans Amphitheatre, this outdoor amphitheater is a great place to enjoy live music. Notable acts this summer include Gwen Stefani, G-Eazy and Logic, Rascall Flatts, Blink-182, Jason Aldean, and Brad Paisley.
So what are you waiting for? Go sky dive indoors! Take a selfie with a dolphin! Pay to get trapped in a room! Just get out there and explore all that Virginia Beach has to offer.
