5 Reasons Why Living with my Best Friend in College was the Best Decision I Ever Made

College can consist of some of the best and worst years of your life. Whether you are attending a small private school or a large well known university, your living situation can make or break these years. After doing my time in the dorms, I made the decision to bunk with my best friend in an off campus apartment. From sharing clothes to both getting spoiled when parents come to visit, here are 5 reasons why living with my best friend in college, has been one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Number One: You will eventually memorize their schedule, and get excited when you know you have someone to go home to.

More often than not, your days in college will be stressful, beautiful, and eventful all packed together. The relief and excitement you are able to feel when you are on your way home from school or work, ready to vent about your day or share exciting news, and your go to person is waiting to do the exact same thing? It just can't be replaced.

Number Two: I think we can all admit that as humans we have some weird habits and isms that only show when we are in the comfort of our own homes. But when you live with your best friend, seeing each other at your worst is a little less embarrassing and a whole lot easier to just simply laugh at.

Those days when you spill coffee all over the kitchen, you woke up 10 minutes before class and are rushing out the door with a bowl of oatmeal and your shoes in your hand? Or even just the silly and mindless actions that only your best friend will notice. They will be there to witness it all, but rather than just sitting back and watching, they are either stressed with you, or know exactly how to cheer you up and calm you down in the process.

Number Three: There will always be food to share, and meals are almost always made for two.

Rather than living in a house where everyone is on their own when it comes to meals, when you live with your best friend, if either of you are in the mood for cooking (which in my case is practically always) the meals will be made with two servings, and will be shared over a glass of wine and a good conversation at the end of the day.

Number Four: When you just need a quite night with your number one person, their bedroom is only a few steps from yours.

Whether you need to sit on the couch and watch movies, or need someone to quiz you for homework, they are only a holler away. They know your study habits, they know the TV shows that take your mind away from life, and they can sense those times when you just need to sit in each others comforting silence.

Number Five: It's easy to clean up after only two people, paying rent and bills is a breeze, and learning how to be an adult during this crazy time is so much easier with your best friend right by your side.

Can't remember the password to your online utility bill? Rent is due, you have to pay for heating, and you are also trying to balance 18 credit hours worth of class? Growing up is hard, but I promise that living with your best friend makes all of these things surprisingly more manageable. Because they will drive with you to the Municipal Building to put a down payment on the electrical bill, and it is always a mutual celebration when either of you finish a big assignment or get an A on a test.

At the end of the day, your college years are mostly spent just trying to figure out what in the heck you're doing. Living with your best friend gives you someone to mess up with, because you are in it together, and that is a relationship you will cherish forever.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
