Being The Only Girl With 3 Brothers

You're the only girl so that makes you a diva right?

Being The Only Girl With 3 Brothers

Random person: "Ah your the only girl in the family so that makes you a diva right?"

Now this one is for all you girls that are the only girl in the family amongst boys and can understand where I am coming from with everything that's about to be told. Do you ever get, "Oh you have only brothers and you're the only girl so you must be a diva" from people you meet?

Then there is the other one people will say, "Come on with being the only girl in the family you had to have gotten away with a lot more than your brothers." Another is, "Oh, you're the oldest and only girl, you must have had special privileges since you were amongst all guys."

From my experience I've gotten every single one of those statements addressed to me and they always make me laugh to say the least. People always mention the diva one and I just roll my eyes and laugh with a response of, "this might sound hard to believe but I wasn't really a diva." Some people will be like, "now I find that hard to believe" but it's the truth; I really wasn't.

Living with a house hold of guys has molded me for the better, even though they are younger. Everyone's always telling me how lucky I am to have brothers! That means no guy will try to mess with me because they'll have three angry protective guys hunting them down for messing with their sister

I know what you're thinking: a house hold of three brothers has to be chaos and you're right it was, but it was pretty entertaining. I can tell you the countless amount of stories I have because of them, and sometimes I feel like I tell too many stories about them.

The only time it gets loud in the house is when they have all their friends over and they're playing video games down in the basement and you hear, "WHAT THE HECK MAN I TOLD YOU TO PASS" and other things for that matter.

As much as my brothers annoyed me when I was growing up, I look back and realize how blessed I am to have some great guys in my life. They make me raise my standards when it comes to finding that guy. They give me advice even though they are younger than me. I know sounds silly but it's the truth.

They help me understand the guy perspective and it can be in my favor sometimes, other times I wish it wasn't in my favor. Granted, my brothers were younger than me so they couldn't do much, but we all still had a good time. It wasn't until they got older that the family trips, hanging around the house, family outings around town, and other things got a bit more interesting to say the least.

In all honesty, I'll tell you what it's like living with a house hold of guys:

* Your kitchen is always stocked with food because they eat so dang much.

* Sports is a religion in your house hold, regardless.

* Your brother's friends become part of the family so that means dating them is off limits.

* Chaos is a normality for the house hold.

* Depending on what your brothers are into, you're always on the go along with your activities.

* Eating dinner together is a rarity because everyone is all over the place.

* The toilet seat is hardly ever down.

* Video games is an essential and you have every game that comes out.

* Bonding together is a norm.

* Big brother, middle brother, and youngest all picking on each other is typical.

* Not getting more than three words out of your brother is common, when you get more than that it's a miracle.

* Sports channel, Comedy channel, and the movie channel are the three main channels for your TV.

* You never get to watch what you want to watch because they take over the TV.

* The conversations amongst everyone are always interesting because the guys will tell you their perspective.

* Shaving cream, razors, cologne, and piles of clothes are scattered amongst the hallway and rooms.

I could list way more key points of what it's like living with a house hold of guys but I think this sums up some of the main ones.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
