When I first moved to college, I was eager to find my people. Soon after my freshman year began, I quickly found my best friends and where I belonged. Now that I am a sophomore, these best friends became my roommates, and things have only gotten better in the month we have spent living under the same roof. These girls have seen me at my best and my worst, and have loved me throughout everything. Below are some of the best things that I have noticed that occur when you live with your best friends:
1. Endless movie nights
At this point, I think we've gone through half of the movies on Netflix and HBO Go.
2. Countless laughs
Every moment spent together is filled with uncontrollable laughter.
3. Three days of Wifi technical issues
After three days and five tech support calls, it's safe to say installing wifi is not our strong suit
4.Chinese food runs
Included, but not limited to: Chinese food, pizza, and Chick-Fil-A
5. Rewatching popular shows
Someone hasn't seen "Grey's Anatomy" or "Gossip Girl?" Looks like we have to rewatch it
6. Dance parties to Disney songs
Who needs working out when you can dance to Mulan, The Cheetah Girls, and Moana?
7. Gaining extra closets
How lucky am I that ALL of my roommates are the same size as me??
8. Creating quotable one-liners
For example, "Is someone playing polka music?", "The smell of tacos woke me up", and "Stop getting your germs all up in my air".
9. Living room sleepovers
Having your own bedroom doesn't mean giant sleepovers can't happen!
10. A judgement-free zone
Especially when you accidentally eat an ENTIRE box of Chips Ahoy cookies by yourself.
11. Spending 30 minutes trying to hang one wall decoration
"No a little higher!! Wait it's not even!"
12. Figuring out what a level is
And then leveling EVERYTHING in the house.
13. Finding creative ways to kill bugs
Example: Flattening an empty box when the mosquito is just too far away.
14. Picking up on each other's slang
And then forgetting who said what phrase first.
15. Braving unfavorable weather for food
Because even during a storm, queso and tacos are just too important.
16. Constantly being surrounded by love
No matter what, you always know you are loved.
While living with your best friends is an adventure (to say the least), it is also one of the most comforting things. My roommates are there for me at my happiest and my saddest, they are my home away from home, and the source of so much of the joy in my life. To Madi, Alexis, and Abby, here's to all the memories we've created, and to all the ones we have ahead of us!
