I met one of my best friends, Natalia, about 5 years ago and my life was changed for the better then. The story of how we met may seem weird, but to us, it's probably one of the funniest stories we have together. The shortest version is that she was taken from one car, put into my car and we drove 2 hours to polish camp and spent 3 days in a tent together then BOOM instant best friends. I thank god every day that polish scouting brought Natalia into my life, but me living in Michigan and her in New York could have been a problem for us. But somehow, by some magical miracle, we've been able to keep our friendship just as strong as when she was here in MI for the summer in 2012 when we worked camp together. Sure there are days or even months when we aren't able to talk to each other regularly or when one of us jets off to Poland for a whole summer( *cough* *cough* Natalia), we always find ways to stay connected and keep our friendship going.

There are many things that keep us so close in life. We often times talk about our work with the Polish Scouting Organization(PSO). Because one it brought us together and without it, we would have never met and two we are both very active and we bounce ideas off one another about different activities and what not. We also do talk about our problems and confide in each other about life, whether it is PSO related or just general life related. She is my person, and I know that no matter what I have to say or deal with she will always have my back not matter what. We also watch the same TV shows. We both have an obsession with Law and Order SVU and Bones, that may or may not be healthy. And we both have the same taste in movies.

But I'm very positive that the major thing that keeps us so close and why we became so close in the first place is our abundant love for music. We may not listen to the same genres all the time, in fact, I know some of the genres I listen too she doesn't listen to it all that often( *cough* country *cough*) but that's ok because a lot of the other music I listen too she loves and some of the music she listens too I don't listen to it all the time. But we both play the guitar, but Natalia is definitely better than I am. Not only that but she helped me become a better guitar player. And she also taught me to feel comfortable with my singing voice, even if I think it's not the greatest( and others may think that too, but that's ok with me). We had plenty of jam sessions together throughout camp, both polish and non-polish songs. And we always have fan girling sessions on Twitter, Facebook, or through text message. Like when we both heard about the We The Kings tour, we both lost it on facebook.

and this is not the only time this has happened.

I'm super thankful and honored to call Natalia a best friend. She will do wonderful things when she completes her master's degree. And I thank our shared love of music, TV, and our work in the PSO for keeping our friendship so strong, even if we live over 600 miles apart.

Kocham Cie Natalia.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
