So has anyone else noticed how one day it is snowing and 18 degrees and the next it's a sunny 40 degrees? This past week’s crazy weather has got me thinking that global warming is hitting the human race hard, and it is time for us to wake up.
When you wake up every morning and do your basic morning routine, how do you think your day is going to go? You think about doing everything you do on your Monday, Wednesday, and Friday schedule. You plan on hitting Clinton Dining Hall for breakfast, going to class in Yokum Hall, going to class in Ward Hall, walking really fast to Algonquin for lunch before they close at 2 p.m. and then maybe going to the gym if it's not below 10 degrees. And that is your day. Uneventful, planned, passionless. No new adventure, no new friends (because you already have your group of people), no new risks, no new nothing because you think that tomorrow is another day and maybe tomorrow will be different. But what if it's not?
Tomorrow will be different, when you act on it.
When you decide to make changes in your life that scare you, that is the moment you're no longer limiting yourself. When you free yourself, you’ll feel a thrill and that's a sign that you, my friend, are living. You'll find that thrill creating butterflies in your stomach, making your hands tremble, and your lips form into a smile. Do not let that feeling go.
Give yourself permission to receive love, to chase after that internship, to ask for help in a class. When you wake up in the morning and you tell yourself that today will not be like tomorrow, that you will make one change, then you are giving yourself a chance. A chance to live your life to the fullest. Tomorrow is never guaranteed; a week, a month, a year is never guaranteed. So, with the time we all have left, with the global warming we are all experiencing, with the breaths we still have yet to inhale, make sure to have a day for the books.
