When one spends most of their life scared and terrified of everything, and most of all the unknown of the future; one learns that living in fear is like sleep walking through life. They are truly not living at all, but hiding from everyone and everything. When our greatest fears come to light, and we are forced to challenge ourselves, and search in our hearts for what will give us the strength to look those fears in the eyes, and walk away. The thought of losing someone close, but never knowing when. When it will it be the last hello, goodbye, and I love you.
If we could control our lives and when and how events occurred, then we would not be fearful of anything. If only life worked like that, the unpredictability and the future is what makes every day so precious, and how we should never take life for granted. In a split second everything could change. It’s as fast as a wrong turn, a really bad kiss, or a simple goodbye. “Once you become fearless life becomes limitless.”(Quote Addicts)
You can tell who are the ones who have experienced what it is really like to live in fear, by the way they react to situations. The ones who stand there with tears rolling down their faces, and thinking that their life is over, so they call their person, the one who is always there to comfort them in a time of need. Then there are the ones who just stand there, witnessing all the panicking people, and wonder why? The ones who are petrified question those who have no feelings towards the situation, asking why they are so cold toward the subject. The panicked ones assume these people are not afraid of anything this world has to offer, or have no feelings for what the unknown could bring. Although for many, the ones who do not display or feel distressed are the ones who have experienced it the most. When the threat is foreseeable, but also avoidable, that is something not to be afraid of.The moments when every person is freaked out, that is not a true moment of fear. When the threat of the world is uncontrollable, unforeseeable, and out of grasp with what makes sense in our life, that is the moment that we should all be afraid. “ There’s no shame in being afraid. Hell, we’re all afraid. What you gotta do is figure out what you’re afraid of because when you put a face on it, you can beat it. Better yet, you can use it.”(One Tree Hill)
Life is not a perfect picture, it is disappointing at times and so unpredictable. There comes those very moments when instead of disappointment, fear, and uncertainty, there is silence. Those are the moments when everything is quiet and the world makes sense.
