As a college student we may forget what living at home can be like. Maybe you miss living in an actual house with a full kitchen and high ceilings or maybe you just really like your dorm room/campus life. Maybe you are dreading going home or... maybe you're really excited. Either way, there can be many good things that can come out of living at home for the summer.
1. Food.
If you're like me there is nothing like coming home to find homemade leftovers and a pantry full of food. Even if your parents don't keep the fridge stocked buy some bagel bites and they will only be a few feet away!
2. Your own bedroom.
I have always loved my roommates even when I haven't but sometimes a girl needs a little space. Your own room gives you the chance to throw your clothes anywhere and everywhere, get ready loudly, leave the light on all night, and watch Netflix with out headphones!
3. Laundry.
Sometimes moms do your laundry for you. After a forty hour week of Chick-Fil-A I just flop into my bed and refuse to move. Typically laundry isn't a thing until my mom asks if she can wash my towels and uniform. Umm yes? Thanks Madre.
We've all been there Nick.
4. You always have someone to hang out with.
Dad, mom, brother, other brother, sister, cat, dog... someone is always at home. Roommates have busy schedules and can be hard to catch but the chances of someone being at home is more likely with your family. For my Brothers... If we don't have anyone to catch a movie with... I will go see super hero movies with them, and then they go with me to Nicholas Sparks movies with me. It works. Also dogs are always happy to hang out with you.
Helps with the self esteem.
5. Summer jobs.
Summer jobs can be fun or terrible, but either way you're getting money without having to study and or juggle a full class load. Yay! Summer jobs can also help put school in perspective and help you realize that you actually don't want to flip burgers for the rest of time. Plus... maybe a little of that money can go towards textbooks.
Same. Except I cried way for way longer.
5. Parking
You mean I don't have to park a mile away? NO, no you don't! Campus parking patrols are very consistent when handing out tickets. I love walking to my car and finding a ticket because I forgot to move it Sunday night? not actually. Enjoy the short walk from the house door to your car door all summer long.
Am I right?
All in all, you won't live at home forever. For the summers that you do have left, why not savor that chance to spend time with parents before you go off into the "real world"? No matter how much drama family brings we can't deny our love for them and hey, summer is only a few months. so enjoy the perks of being a dependent for a few months!
