When you leave for college, adjusting to living away from your parents can be a really hard process. You are thrown into a life where you live with people you hardly know and that isn't always the easiest thing to do. But, when you live with people and see them on a daily basis, it's hard not to form a relationship that is just as roommates. More often than not, your college roommates can become your best friends in life. Each day that goes by means another opportunity to get to know them better and become even closer than you were the day before. The relationship formed can be an amazing time in your life, a lot can happen.
1. You know everything about each other.
No one knows more about you than they do. Your own mother probably doesn't know everything they know. They know what makes you laugh, how to make you happy, what you do and don't like to eat, and even what ice cream to get when you've had a bad day and need to relax.
2. You hate being apart from them.
After spending all your time with them, being away from them seems impossible. When breaks come around, you wonder how you're going to survive not waking up to them every morning and watching your shows all day together. Everything just seems so boring.
3. And when you are reunited, it's the greatest feeling in the world.
Everything seems like it's back in place. You have them there to make life easier and, sometimes, you just wanna attack them because you've missed them so much.
4. Your lives continue through a group chat.
It's hard being away from each other, so what better way to stay updated on each other's daily lives than with a group chat. You express how much you miss each other in it, relive the weird things you see when they can't experience it, and gossip about the most random things imaginable.
5. More clothes.
There is nothing better than living with people who you can borrow clothes from. Tired of wearing your same old sweaters? One of them will definitely have something new to spice up your wardrobe. And, it's free!
6. There is no such thing as a personal bubble.
Once you start living with other people, you are never alone. Whether you're cuddling in bed watching Netflix or just sitting on their floor while they study or do homework, you are always there with them and vice versa.
7. They will always take care of you.
They live with you, so they will literally be right there for you. Whether you went a little crazy going out and you need someone to hold your hair for you, or some boy is being stupid and you need someone to just listen and love you while you cry. They know exactly what to do for you when you need some help.
8. They will be completely honest with you.
If you look like a slut, they will most definitely tell you to change. Or if you need to stop binge-watching a TV show and be more social with them, they will be very blunt about it. Sometimes the truth hurts, but when it's coming from the ones who love you, they're saying it for a good reason and with good intentions.
9. They're more than just best friends.
They're your family. You spend the majority of your time with them that they have taken on the role of your family when you can't physically be with your actual family. They will comfort you and yell at you and make you feel loved in every way they can.
10. They're your people.
And your people are always there for you. They love you. They’ll make you happy, make you laugh, sometimes make you cry, but they will always be the ones that will do absolutely anything for you.
